Controltech RAS101 1-1/8" Falcon Aero Stem Road Bike Stem 31.8 x 80 90 100 mm (80mm)

This is a nice stem, especially for the money. The previous reviews are not correct about it having poor quality control. I’ve put a few of these on bikes and they all look “misaligned” in the packaging. The top is not supposed to have a gap and when angled out due to the diameter of the handlebars it will line up once tightened. The bolts are nothing great but nothing poor. Correct torque settings and there should be no issues. I highly recommend this stem. It looks great and fits nicely. I will say it’s also nice that the handle bars sit perfectly perpendicular when mounted which isn’t common on cheap stems. Makes it really easy to align the wheel to the bar.

Really heavy and not very aero.

**Update**So I ended up returning the stem. I began to think they shipped the stem with the wrong screw lengths for the top or they just weren't drilled out properly.I still cannot recommend this product. I REALLY wanted to like it because it had the look and measurements I wanted which most other vendors don't have for an excellent price point.Sadly This controltech experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. Ended up buying a different stem from a local shop.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Stem look great when taken out of the package.But.. when I removed the top screws on the front plate, they were surprisingly difficult to remove (and didn’t feel like I could tighten it further either to close the gap). Turns out when I took them out the tips were stripped. Not sure if someone messed it up or it is a defective design.Anyways I emailed conttoltech and their ability to communicate wasn’t so clear. They claim to be an American company, but somehow that feels not completely true.Still trying to resolve the issue. Will follow up once I do.Oh and 80mm is closer in weight to 150g

Misaligned stem bolt holes cause the front cap of the stem to jog "upward" (see photos) which means the internal diameter of the handle bar engagement is not a perfect circle. Every handle bar manufacturer makes their handlebars via a perfect radius/ diameter, anything other than this would prevent any angle adjustment by way of rotation at the stem. If you have mounted this stem on carbon fiber handlebars, please remove immediately as torquing this to the recommended 6 Nm WILL damage your carbon handlebars.Controltech, shame on you for wasting everyone's time with this awful product. Do better, or get out of the business.

I gambled on this considering the 1 star review. I've heard of Control Tech on a positive note so I figured the guy before just got a lemon which happens to every company.Anyway, I'm glad I did. The stem is good quality and looks great. Pair it up with three Controltech Cougar bars and it looks incredible. I would recommend it
