Q: Do these retain their size, or do they stretch out into unusable trash too?

They stretch out and they get dirty. However, they don’t leave dents in your wrist and they are cute compared to the traditional black pony-tail-holder.

Q: Are these good for thick hair?

Yes. My daughter has thick hair. When the bands are new, we only get two loops, they stretch out over time and then we have to put three loops in to hold. We will never use traditional hair ties again. These are so much better for your hair.

Q: Are these good for short hair? (Chin length bob)

I have thin shoulder length hair, and I cannot find a way for them to work. Hope you haven't bought yours yet.

Q: Do these come wrapped around the cardstock as shown in the picture or loose in bags?

Just got mine and they are just loose in a small bag. Hard to tell that they are ombré that way.
