YAYATI (Marathi)

I happened to read a marathi novel after a long time and seriously it was difficult to put down. It is excellent in all aspects of writing- the story, language, detailing of the characters, flow, depth - and most importantly, it is not just a story of the lust of a king as the title connotes, but it is in a way a story of a humankind. It expresses some eternal facts of human life- like "Trusha(lust) leads to more Trushna". The monologue of the main characters enables the readers to take a deep insight into their personalities and see the world or facts from their point of view. It is a takeaway message from this novel that people aren't as black and white as they seem, but there is a lot going on underneath which make them who they are and the way they interact with others. A must read Marathi classic.
