Well worth the wait!
The Darkover anthologies were a welcome addition to Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover series. It was a way for relatively new authors to spread their wings, and Ms. Bradley was very supportive of fan efforts. The stories were good and offered unique insights to the world of Darkover, and Ms. Bradley had several short stories in the anthologies, which made them especially delightful to read. Alas, an incident with a fan occurred that caused Ms. Bradley to no longer be able to publish such anthologies. It's been a long dry spell, but this book was well worth the wait. I especially like that it was based upon the music of Darkover. I really enjoyed the songs and stories behind the songs. As with the other Darkover anthologies, this one was all good. It is obvious from all her other writings that Ms. Bradley loved music, but until I read the preface, I never knew that Ms. Bradley had wanted be an opera singer. If you like Darkover, read this book! You will not be sorry. (And there's another, "Stars of Darkover," coming out later this year.)

best of all she wrote music to go with some ...
Learned that Bradley also wrote music to go with her Darkover poems. But, best of all she wrote music to go with some of Tolkiens Hobbit poems. O ordered the CS and listen to it every day. So, if you are a Bradley fan, or a Tolkien fan, this book will give you a background on another aspect of a very good author.

I am confused by the book referencing music. All I see in it are lyrics for songs. Music requires a score, and I don't see any. Nor are there any recordings of performance included. What am I missing?

Dull pseudo-anthropology
Basically a long discussion of ... Music on Darkover. Quite dull unless you are a hardcore afficionado of... the Music of Darkover. Most of it have been a chapter in a "guide to Darkover". Even being a fan of the series, I wound up skimming it and considered the purchase a complete waste of money.

As good and better than earlier anthologies
I was very excited to find new MZB books in the Darkover series. As good and better than earlier anthologies. I hope they keep these coming!

more than lovely
Keep writing and singing. Music is a gift, don't ever stop singing. It opens more doors in heaven than anyone knows.

One Star
I have always loved to read all the stories of Darkover. This, however, was not meant for reading.

Ok for darkoverans...
Fit for fans...not much there for others...maybe it would have improved with a few sheets of notes? Not bad, not expensive, just a bit of an โamuse boucheโ for complete-ists...

Yes!
Yet another collection of Darkover stories - this time all with a musical theme. Great selection of stories by authors who truly understand what MZB wanted to create when she started writing about Darkover. A creation which rivals JRR Tolkien in it's complexity & scope for other writers to base their characters & stories in. Keep it going!

The stories in the book were excellent as always
The stories in the book were excellent as always, but there was significant space devoted to talking about Marion's music and publishing songs which was a nice tribute, but not what I was looking for.
