A TV mystery is being filmed on the island but Allie has a mystery of her own to solve
I had the pleasure of starting this paperback ARC while I was vacationing on Mackinac Island! It was seriously too fun to be able to read and picture some of the places that Allie goes while sleuthing or on her daily rounds. I even visited the bookstore lady there who told me she thought the McMurphy was based on one of the hotels which has to remain nameless in this review, and probably a little of the others along Main Street as well. The fudge I got from the real hotel that also has a fudge shop was amazing! I thought of Allie and Crew as I ate it!In this installment taking place on Labor Day weekend, Mal sniffs out another murder right away, then soon a TV crew follows since they are filming a mystery series pilot on the island. Rex gets to be shadowed by an actor named Dirk who is supposed to play the police chief in the series. The clues after the first murder occurs are given in the form of chess game clues, and the clues and another murder seem to follow Allie's previous case locations. Someone had to know her history of helping solve murders on the island, and Allie had her suspicions after a writer for the show said he'd been on the island since May when Allie herself had first arrived. There was no shortage of suspects and I was really surprised at who the killer turned out to be as it definitely wasn't who I had in mind. I love how the characters have developed since the first book. Jenn, Allie's bestie has been on the island all summer (which has me a little confused wondering where the two Christmas novellas are supposed to come in if Allie has only been there since May and this book is taking place in September--maybe parallel time?) helping her with the hotel and running her own events planning service. It's still up and down as far as the Trent vs. Rex guy-Allie-will-pick decision goes, although I think Allie is realizing that Trent's heart isn't really in the island as Rex's is. I'm personally Team Rex myself, lol.Two of my favorite characters were on their honeymoon, so they were definitely missed. Jenn and Shane are still an item even though Jenn had to go off to another job for awhile. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in this awesome series! Now that I've been to Mackinac, I want to read the series again (as well as another cozy series that inspired me to want to visit Mackinac) with a new set of eyeballs that's seen this amazing and magical place. I have most of the series on Kindle or iBooks. Maybe on my next Mackinac trip, I'll get those in paperback since the cover art is always so cute--and it would make for the perfect souvenir.Even though I won a paperback copy of this, it in no way influenced my decision to leave a good review or a review at all. My own e-copy of this book arrived around midnight but I'll always appreciate having the advance copy that I was able to read right where the book takes place. Scattered at the ends of some of the chapters are some yummy fudge recipes that Allie has in her shop.

Awesome!
This is the 6th book in this candy-coated mystery by one if my favorite author-Nancy Coco. I have enjoyed each one, there’s always a mystery to resolve, fudge to be made, because after all the story takes place in Mackinac Island, where you find the best fudge! Anyway, the story is fast- paced, which I like, because sometimes in reading Nancy Coco’s mysteries, I just want to keep on reading, wanting to know who the culprit is! Of course, I always enjoy a cat and dog character in the story, and they add to the mystery! There is also a little bit if confusing romance between the main character and some very handsome, protective police officer or is it the gentle, romantic and very wealthy businessman, which one will she choose. I hope it will be Officer Rex Manning, I’m already in love with him, lol! I highly recommend this fun to read, candy-coated mystery by Nancy Coco!

New favorite in the Candy-Coated-Mystery series.
I have always enjoyed this series so much and Forever Fudge, #6 in the Candy-Coated Mystery series is my new favorite. Both Mal and Caremella are proving their metal as cadaver animals even though Allie really wishes they would give up the habit. It is especially disturbing when Allie realizes that the murderer is challenging her to find him. Lots is happening among the gang on the island and most of it leave Allie a little down. I loved that she was not overly impressed with the hot actor who is starring in a TV pilot but neither Rex nor Trent are pleased with her friendship with the handsome star.

Who Did What?
I love this series! There is no shortage of great, defined characters. Rex and Trent are are in the thick of it with both loving the one and same owner, Liz, of the McMurphy. Mal, a very busy Bichon, has developed a bad habit of finding bodies. Curious visitors renting lodging throughout the town find themselves under suspicion for numerous accusations. Friends come and go, leaving doubt in the reader’s mind as to how deep is the actual friendship. I find myself guessing until the very end how the ends will be tied together. I hate to see the last page....I just want the story to continue and always look forward to the next surprise on Mackinaw Island.

Fun Twist
I have enjoyed this series since I came across the first book. Allie McMurphy is a great sleuth that surrounds herself with friends that care about her and her pets. Mackinac Island is a fun location for this series. A film crew comes to the island to shoot a movie based on the recent murders. The writer and the leading man are particularly interested in getting to know Allie and pick her brain about how she finds so many bodies and plays a large role in solving the cases.I really enjoyed the unique spin in this book. It's always fun to step into a book and when you can go on location with a film crew while sitting in your own home reading, it's an added bonus.

Great read with fun characters and a picturesque setting.
Love this series and this book was no exception! Mackinac Island is a picturesque setting, and Nancy’s characters and descriptions of the island and its inhabitants make me want to visit there! I was on the edge of my seat till the very end, and did not expect the conclusion. Great read!

3 Stars
Took a bit to get through this book as it was very slow moving and felt a little rushed and incomplete. Especially the ending. Liked this author previously so hoping the next is a bit stronger and less chess.
