Sera has a hot hot hot encounter in a car with a relative stranger who turns out to be her new boss. And he makes it very clear he is in love with her and keeps flirting and asking for a date. The title is a bit misleading because this is not an enemies-to-lovers story at all. I laughed a lot, was embarrassed for Sera and totally loved their flirty encounters. Sera has a lot on her plate and desperately needs her job and it won't do to sleep with the boss. Ben - the hot boss - pursues her but promises to keep it of the work floor. This is a story about two people with secrets and regrets in their past who are hopelessly falling in love. This was for me the right book at the right time I guess. I ticked a lot of my boxes. I loved the MC's and the secondary characters like Sera's 'adoptive dads' JJ and Bruce. There were many funny lines and Ben did some really romantic stuff. In short: I have found another favorite for my shelf! I highly recommend.

Fun, tender romance with lots of comedy
This was my first book by Jo Watson and I enjoyed it very much. Some laugh out loud moments and a very tender romance. The main characters are believable with complex histories that complicates their relationship and requires courage from both.Always nice to read a book set in my home city of Johannesburg, the only jarring bits where it has obviously been tweaked for an international audience, but understandable. Definitely going to read more by this author.

I’m on a streak of meh books.
I would’ve liked to have liked this but too many things felt either boring or plain wrong and I just couldn’t.Sera is on the side of annoying, not really knowing what she wants, with way too many unresolved daddy issues and a ridiculously low self esteem- how did she end up friends with her former coworker who bullied and slut shamed her still has me baffled.Ben is portrayed as this perfect being although he respects zero boundaries and absolutely trumps over all (any, really) of Sera’s requests. The story evolved in a boring pace of the same dialog lines being repeated page after page and what’s with all the chocolate addiction? Is she twelve??!!The story was predictable as was the ending, and the epilogue was downright off tone but by then I just wanted it over and done with. Not my thing.

3.5 Stars
Love to Hate You read like a slightly less developed Sophie Kinsella story. In fact, Sera vividly reminded me of SK’s many non-distinct heroines in voice, work environment, and embarrassing predicaments. I did find myself giggling a number of times and enjoying the characters. Overall, it was a mildly entertaining story, but not necessarily memorable. A quick, light read between weightier fare.

More than I expected
When I purchased this book I was simply expecting the usual enemies to lovers story but this novel was so much more. It was wonderfully written with humor, love and even torment. The characters were well developed and the banter and humor were fantastic without being over the top. I loved it.

Funny and entertaining.
My first book by this author. There is plenty of comedy and witty dialog. The sexual attraction between Ben and Sera is hot but he sexy times are mild. Both have secrets they are keeping but once revealed can the relationship move forward? Great supporting characters. A really great romance.

Pretty Good
This was a decent book. Not really sure why it was called Love to Hate you, they never really hated one another. Overall I felt it was lacking something but since I cannot put my finger on it I cannot deduct any additional stars. 4 stars for a solid, well written romance.

Enjoyable, will definitely read this authors books again
Fun read! I spent almost the entire book with a smile on my face. Light reading with just the right amount of angst.

Slow, contrived and predictable
I would love to say that this book is a good holiday read, but unfortunately that was not the case for me. About to spend a week relaxing in the sun, I was looking for an easy read, page-turner, chick-lit, romance novel that I'd read in a day or two before moving on to the next. Sadly, I found myself unable to pick it up than our it down. The premise of the book - troubled, unable to be loved or supported, barely out of her teens Sera, accidentally sleeps with her new boss, who just happens to be swooningly and devilishly handsome, slightly dark and mysterious, and of course "Mr Perfect". It's a "will they, won't they?" story with a predictable outcome. The book is set in Johannesburg, but I had no sense of the place from the prose. It really could have been set anywhere. The book began well with a steamy and anonymous encounter between two sexy people in a car outside a drag club, but from there the plot stumbled along slowly and I found myself a little bored; in fact I stopped reading it for a week and only finished it because I was half way through. The main problem for me was that I couldn't identify with any of the characters. Both main characters were a little contrived, Sera in particular I just wanted to slap, I did not feel empathy or sympathy for her, which I am assuming I was supposed to. JJ and Bruce, the gay/drag queen surrogate Dads provided light relief but even they conformed to stereotype.I haven't read any of Jo Watson's other books so it's difficult to know gothic book was a dud for me, or whether this is an author I should avoid in the future. It's a shame as the book has good reviews from other readers!

LOVED IT.
This is my first book by Jo, and it defiantly wont be my last have ordered three more of her books. Love to hate you was just so romantic, funny and with the added drama that happens in life. The characters were strong and very believable. I just couldn't put this book down. Cant wait to start reading Burning Moon now! Lets sit back relax and get washed away with another great book. Thank you Jo x

Loved this!
I really enjoyed this sexy romance from Jo Watson. It had a stunningly gorgeous hero who I kept imagining as Dacre Montgomery... if ever there's a film... Loved heroine Sera and was cheering her on as she navigated the stresses of her life at work and with her family situation. A strong heroine but with that air of vulnerability that gives the hero an in! Perfect summer reading!

Laugh out loud page turner!
I loved this book! It had me laughing out loud from the second page. Loved Sera and her determination to be independent despite her struggles. Loved Ben, he was a brilliant book boyfriend, charming and arrogant at the same time. I read a review there that complained that although the book was set in Johannesburg it could have been anywhere- hello- has that reader ever been to Johannesburg??? Ive been seven times- not for pleasure. The book is supposed to be a light hearted romantic comedy- nobody reading chicklit wants to read about the realities of Johannesburg!!! How you are risk of crime day in and day out! Which I actually think Jo touched on a couple of times- if you were aware of it! Comments about it not being safe weren't just Ben being chivalrous! That is unfortunately the reality of the situation! Anyway- back to the story- as a romantic comedy it delivered exactly what it promised- funny, heart warming, romantic and thoroughly enjoyable- I've recommended it to my friends and its definitely worth 5 starts for me!
