I eat these too quickly, but I am nuts for licorice.These are firm with a strong licorice taste and a nice hint of saltiness. It is a fair enough value, but for licorice lovers the 2 lb bags are, of course, a better deal.

Totally fantastic, very tasty and not too salty at all compared to other Dutch licorice - not like American or Australian licorice which I find far too sweet and taste of glycerine fat and sugar. This is true licorice not salty not too hard but chewy - great to suck if you can, i never can and always want more more more. Takes me back to my childhood.

This is real Dutch licorice. Hard, but not too hard. I enjoy sucking it for minutes. It is pleasurable to suck, and leaves a pleasant taste in my mouth. Venco makes great “drops”, but may not be forthosewholike Twizzlers or soft Australian licorice. But according to my Dutch friends, this licorice is as good as you can get in Amsterdam. And according to me, enter than any American licorice

I bought these 2 or 3 times and the freshness (suggested by softness of the candy) varied noticeably. Even the fresh ones are pretty stiff, so be careful with the first bite. The flavor and overall candy quality is great. I have trouble stopping at just a few.

I’m German, so liking black licorice is my job. I love strong licorice, even if it has salmiak and gives me a bit of an ammonia smell in my nose. I bought these Venco cats because of the reviews. I’ve been eating Katje’s kinder for years so I thought I’d give these a try. MISTAKE. They have very little flavor, are unfresh as he** and they actually stink. I can’t quite put my finger on what this bag smells like when I open it. Unwashed feet? Fish? Trash? Just yuck. And I can’t return them so 4 bags into the trash they go.

For connoisseurs of real licorice, this brand is definitely among the best. The firm texture is quite appealing, and the flavor is as natural and luxurious as you can glean from Helichrysum plants. The candy is pleasant on the palate, and there is very little glycyrrhizin aftertaste. But for those who aren't keen to licorice, you will taste glycyrrhizin for a while after eating authentic licorice like this, sometimes even for hours. But of course we licorice lovers don't mind it.

I am VERY picky when it comes to licorice! I like my licorice to be fairly hard, so it does not stick to my teeth, and also so it lasts a long time. Almost like a hard candy, but not quite so hard. I also demand an authentic licorice taste, semi-sweet, not salty and not "soapy" tasting. The Venco Licorice Cats fit this bill perfectly!!! In fact, when I received mine today, after trying just one, I immediately re-ordered more, as I know this will be my "go-to" preferred licorice henceforth. I could not ask for a better licorice to fit my personal tastes! The fairly small size of the licorice cats is also perfect for me. I would also like to add that shipping was extremely fast -- I received my order in just two (2) days!!!

I received a bag from someone who was in Holland. Awesome! I ordered these and they are HORRIBLE! They are so hard that eating this licorice is akin to eating beef jerky, but not as tasty. Find a supplier who is IN Holland. This stuff tarnishes the Venco name. My guess is that this U.S. Company bought "seconds" and they are selling them for a premium. NEVER AGAIN!

Expensive otherwise everything I expected

She likes them when so many others won't do. Happy wife, happy life :)

This is the best licorice candy I've ever had. They were here on time and I am eating them constantly. A little pricey but worth it.

Excellent product, very fresh, not rock hard that you sometimes get from speciality stores (i.e) Dutch store. With quick delivery not need to go to store!
