Great book with lots of practical suggestions of plants. A bit cute for my taste, but on balance a great book. I am an avid gardener and still learned a lot. She suggests specific cultivars within a species. She also does very nice, inexpensive webinars,

A truly down to earth, "lay it on the line" book. The language she used is right up my alley and I chuckled each time I've read some pages.. I've been fortunate to see the author's gardens and it's clearly evident she lives by the message she conveys in her book.

This book is amazing! It has all the information you need in one place. The author also has a rather amusing voice which adds to the down to earth nature of this book. A must have for the gardener in any zone!

Great book for Northern flower gardeners, written with a wonderful sense of humor.

Great list,right to the point

Bought this for my wife, but it really doesn't have much new information. Very few pictures, and very small at that.

I've had the pleasure of attending a lecture by Kerry Ann and reading this book. I consider myself very, very fortunate. Kerry has a way of presenting material in a down-to-earth humorous manner that is inspiring. She gives you the confidence you may need to "try your hand" at creating a beautiful garden. Her knowledge is impressive (plants, soil, garden tools, pest control, money-saving tips, etc) and just about any and everything you need to create a garden in the Northeast is included in this book. Couple her "plant smarts" with her wonderful sense of humor and you have a very unique book. A book that teaches in an entertaining way the fundamentals necessary for a successful garden. One of the best books you can purchase if you want to increase your gardening expertise. I can't rate this book highly enough.

Gardening is a true passion for me and if I'm not out enjoying/working in my gardens, I'm usually trying to learn as much as I can through books, magazines or the internet. This book is a treasure! Whether you're a relatively new gardener or an experienced one the information is extensive and yet practical and concise because it's organized into chapters that make quick references a snap. I've had the good fortune to hear Kerry speak at symposiums and lectures(which,by the way are always full); and I've never walked away from one of these without being inspired and learning something that I could apply to my own garden. Having this book is like attending a dozen lectures and it's a joy to read. Trust me you will not be dissappointed.
