FAVI RioHD-LED-2, The little projector that could
First off the FAVI RioHD-LED-2 is not going to be a drop in replacement for a full 1080p projector. It's clearly designed for portability. Being portable, it's easy to set up. Most of the buttons on the remote and most of the options in the projector's menu screens are self explanatory. The user guide is also helpful in case you get stuck. However being portable also means that it's not as bright as a full sized projector, nor does it have as many features. That said, it's pretty capable if you know how to get the most out of it.The design is practical for the most part, except that the projector's keystone control is located on the bottom of the unit where it's very hard to access while the projector is right side up. You have to lift the projector to access this control which makes fine tuning the keystone correction rather annoying. However I found that you can flip the projector upside down and use the built in image flip feature to get around this annoyance. The only button on the top of the projector is the power button, which you don't really need access to since the remote control that comes with the LED-2 works very well. I have the projector on a bookcase behind me and point the remote at the screen and it still works fine.As with many projectors, the RioHD-LED-2 is best suited to a darkened room. This is where you will get the best image quality. The room need not be pitch black. Where I have this projector set up, the room is bright enough for me to easily make out where everything is. I can even make out the letters on my black Dell keyboard as I type this. I can easily achieve a 65+ inch projected image while still maintaining good greyscale. The trick is to turn the brightness up, and turn the contrast DOWN! The contrast settings on this projector are way overdriven by default. Turning the contrast down to about 20 (default is 50) will give you a much more detailed image while still maintaining good black levels. You'll want to turn the brightness up though. How high up depends on the room lighting.Image resolution is this projector's weakest point. It's a standard definition projector. It supports resolutions up to 1920x1080, but it downsamples them to 640x480, the native resolution of the internal LCD panel. However the projector does compensate for this to some degree with built in anti aliasing that actually looks pretty good. 800x600 looks almost as detailed as 640x480, and 1024x768 is detailed enough to be useable. The RioHD-LED-2 supports several video inputs, including S-video and Component video, but only two audio inputs. All the video inputs except for VGA and HDMI share the same audio input. VGA doesn't have an audio input, and HDMI has its audio integrated with the video as is standard. The projector also has a standard 3.5mm headphone audio out jack. You can listen to the projector with a pair of headphones, or you can get creative and connect it to a stereo system using a headphone to RCA plug adapter cable. The projector's built in speakers are adequate, but connecting it to a stereo system really improves the listening experience. In a pinch you can also connect a pair of computer speakers for better sound. To summarize: The RioHD-LED-2 is a nice little projector at a great price. It's not perfect and it won't replace a full 1080p projector, but if you need a small low cost projector with a decent picture that you can quickly set up just about anywhere, it will do the job just fine.

A Bargain For The Price
I am quite impressed with this projector, I need one that will project a fairly decent image in dim (but not dark) room and this one works well. I have watched some TV on it and a few movies. In a fairly quiet room the built in speakers will actually suffice. The picture is fairly decent for the money and certainly quite watchable. It accepts a HDMI input, though output appears to be SD quality rather than HD.The unit looks well made and comes with most of the required cable, the HDMI is not included but can be found on amazon.com for a few bucks. For the price it really is a bargain and pleasing to watch, easy to set up and though the fan is noticeable, it is not bothersome to me. It does seem to get a little on the hot side but not excessively so and is not a concern at all.It has quite a few adjustments that can be made including sports/cinema mode etc. The remote control is very handy and makes most adjustments, be careful not to lose it.I bought a low end 60" X 60" proctor screen and this greatly improves the quality of the image. Though a white wall works, the white projector screen makes quite a difference if you can afford another $40.00 go for it!I really can't knock this projector, it's not high end and it does not pretend to be, it gives you a lot for your money and seems to be well made. An economical way to watch a movie on a wall (the whiter the better or a screen) without spending a lot of money!

Great Projector, Great price.
I will make this review short and to the point for those of us "impatient" people:Pros-. For those of us Military personnel that are currently serving overseas, the Projector does operate on 110 and 220 power.. Instruction booklet is informative and to the point. No rummaging around for hours looking for answers.. Picture quality is well worth the money spent (if not underpriced).. Multiple input choices to pick from (for those of us gamers out there).. Small/compact, lightweight, and easily portable.. Set up is easy (I set mine up with only an X-Box 360 in about 2 minuets). Very well priced for what you get.. Cools down quickly (no long wait time for it to "finally" turn off).Cons-. Remote does not come with batteries (don't loose this because there are no buttons on the projector other than for power).. Headphone jack is proportional but is a really tight fit at first (so tight that I thought that I had the wrong size at first until I tried just pushing in the jack while twisting and applying pressure).. Although the projector has built-in speakers; there is no actual speaker jack output; I had to buy laptop speakers to use with the headphone jack because I thought there was not enough base.

Worked OK .... for 2 Days
Bought this based on LED life expectancy. Was able to project a satisfactory image for my golf simulator in a dimly lit room. Tried to power up on Day 3 but noticed power led was not lit. Power cord was ok but there were no instructions or help on vendor web site about any internal fuse. So I sent it back. Pros: Low price, easy setup, decent (not HD,3D, et. al) picture for my use. Cons: Product is flimsy build, instructions & web site low quality.I didn't need a high end product and was hoping this would last. But after I opened it up and saw how cheap it is built I got a little nervous ... with good reason.

High quality entertainment for low cost!
Do not be put off by the price! The delivery was very quick and very secure. I have got this projector hooked up to display a 85" screen and the quality is amazing. The colours are really rich and bright making HD sources look fantastic. It's natural resoultion is 4:3 but composite video and s-video can be scaled to 16:9. It has inbuilt stereo speakers, a remote control and keystone correction to make sure you always have a square image. This projector is very light and the fan is very quiet. (Turn your 5.1 home cinema system up and you won't hear it at all!) Accessories included are: remote control, composite RCA cable, VGA cable and lens cap.If you want a home cinema projector that can go up to 150", outputs in HD, has a 20,000 hour bulb life and compared to other projectors is very cheap, then this is the one for you!

Nope
+ Budget projector. So cheap it hurts.+ Easy enough to set up.- No menu control on projector itself, reliant on its mediocre remote- Itchy hardware I/O, prone to signal problems between projector and source- Imprecise keystone adjustment knob located in an impractical location- Curved projected image: edges are never in focus with the center

Good quality for the price
This is a good product. Everything is in good shape, description is fine.It works really well in a really dark room. Otherwise, the contrast is so low is almost impossible. So if you are looking for something to put in your basement or any other dark room, it is a great product. But if you want to use in daylight, even darkening your room will not be enough. No complains about it: you cannot ask for more for the amount of lumens it has. But it means in practice you cannot use inOn the positive side: it starts in almost no time, and when it is dark quality is good.
