WOW! Really pleased with these almonds!!
I read the 1 star review and wasn't sure I wanted to take the risk, but am really glad now that I did! These are wonderful almonds--so flavorful...just like the ones my family used to get at Christmas time in the 1950's.The package in the picture looks exactly like the package the almonds arrived in. And yes, occasionally you will get a very strong almond. We got the occasional one back in the 1950's also. I just read the other day that those are not rotten or spoiled...just a nut that grew with more "essential almond oil" than normal. The regular almonds I was buying are much harder. These are a little chewier. I roasted a few of these at 350 degrees for 10 minutes in the oven and oh, my gosh--are they ever GOOD!Recent research on the Internet reveals that on the West Coast of the USA, almonds are harvested around September or October, depending upon the weather. So if there is also a harvest time in Spain where these almonds come from, then the longer out past the harvest time that you wait before ordering, the older the almonds will be.For what it is worth, I ordered the almonds at the end of September, and they are delicious. For those of us who have to eat the Paleo Diet way for life, due to health issues, getting really flavorful and high quality almonds is a really big deal, as they are a big source if non-dairy milk, sprouted, and also ground to make flour for a sort of "bread." I will be back for more--these are the real deal! Very, very pleased.

Fresh, great tasting and soak/sprout very well, perfect for almond milk and snacking etc.
We purchased a large bag of these mainly to make almond milk for smoothies and to replace regular lactose milk types, so far they have been working out well! We always soak and sprout them, but they do taste pretty good and smooth with a nice flavor just regular as a snack too. I read all of the info and reviews about raw/sprouting etc and it seems these are popular and legit as far as all that goes, though we are beginners to this area FTL seems to be reputable and well recommended. There were a decent amount of broken/cracked almonds, I suppose this can't be avoided but it did seem a little more than expected - I'd say maybe 15-20% overall. Again totally ok to snack on and taste yummy even without soaking so we just eat the cracked and broken ones this way, but it was a little disappointing - could be how these large bags all come though regardless of brandPrice is definitely not cheap but compared to other raw bags of this size it was a on the lower side, and if you are in the market for these you know you know they just cost more. Worth it though for us at least to have lactose free, healthy fresh almond milk :)Will definitely buy these again!

almonds
I liked the almonds. However, I was concerned to notice a sticky label had been placed over some previously printed information that was originally printed on the packaging. I needed to see the words non-pasteurized on the label and I did not see that. Raw is not raw if it is pasteurized. I had to grow my own almonds in California to achieve this as truly raw almonds are not longer sold in CA. What a shame..Almonds went from a stud to a dud once that pasteurized law was put into practice.

Taste as soon as you buy in case you have to return them.
I got these and put them in the refrigerator since I did not need them yet. I got them out a few days ago and ate a handful. (After 2 months in refrigeration) Most of the almonds were very good but some of them had a bitter, strong, artificial almost taste - tasted like someone poured almond extract on them. Later I ate a few more - wondering if it was a fluke - the same experience. I was so disappointed since the other almonds were so good. It is too late to return them. My advice to others is to taste them when you get them. This was a substantial financial loss - $20 plus dollars.2-15-16 Update: I have received a refund on this product without a lot of hassle. I have been tempted to try them again since it seems my experience appears to be unusual - by looking at other reviews.

Excellent, organic almonds
This vendor's nuts are all of high quality and delicious, but I much prefer their organic ones, such as these almonds. If you want to really augment the taste of the almonds, and lower the phytic acid content, it is very easy to roast them. I did it in this manner:I have a small, square, Pyrex glass baking dish that fits perfectly into my toaster oven. I set the toaster oven for 350 degrees and turned to the Bake setting. I then spread a thin layer of nuts in the bottom of the ungreased baking dish. I place it in the toaster oven, and set a timer for 5 minutes. When it goes off, I remove the baking dish with a hot pad, shake the dish to resettle and redistribute the nuts, place the dish back in the toaster oven, and set a timer for another 5 minutes. At the end of this time, the almonds are deliciously toasted.

Meh.
I use organic almonds primarily for making almond butter. I bought these because Whole Foods (WF) recently raised the price of raw organic almonds to $15.00/lb, which as expensive as it sounds for something you're going to eat as a solo food, is downright absurd for something you're going to grind up and spread on something else. By contrast, these Amazon almonds were certainly the right price, and they arrived quickly enough. When compared to the raw WF product, I found these almonds nearly tasteless straight out of the bag. So I dry roasted them, since roasting brings out a great deal of flavor. The result truly highlighted the lower quality of these nuts. Some of them had a uniform amber finish, great aroma, and nice flavor. Others became dark or mottled, smelled strange, and tasted anywhere from bland to bitter.I had hoped that grinding them all together into a uniform butter would even out the individual differences. The texture of the butter is superb, but the flavor is merely adequate, with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Not such a bad taste that preserves can't cover it, but also nothing I'd really want to dip a spoon in and snack on directly.I probably won't buy this brand again.

Soft and stale
Most of the almonds are really, really soft. The taste seemed off and stale compared to other almonds Iโve had in the past. There were a lot of broken almonds that became soggy and mushy in the bag. I canโt eat them raw because they are so soft. I will use the rest of the bag for baking, but I will not but this again.

Raw - unpasteurized ?
Label on package needs to be more descriptive, label currently omits stating RAW and UNPASTEURIZED which makes one wonder. The nuts do make good almond milk though
