Kinda $spendy but works well
After a minor angle reset, this finishing stone worked suprisingly well.Good add on for my new KME Gold diamond sharpening system. This stone/base is thicker than your KME stone/bases,so knowing your exact angle before you use this stone is extremely important.

Holy cow!!
On my KME sharpener I just started with the basic kit but the knives while DEADLY sharp had a little "toothieness" to them even with a quality strop and compound. I got this to try before spending more money on another stone and boy am I glad I did. This thing is amazing! I did one of my high end knives on the regular 4 gold stone Kit with a leather strop with extra fine compound after and looked at under my jewelers loop after I was done and then used the extra fine Ruby. Looked that time and I was really, really impressed. It was night and day!! Then I followed the Ruby with a couple of strokes with my strop and compound again and that time my jaw fell open. Super smooth on paper and just for fun I shaved 1 strip on the side of my forearm and when I say hair literally jumped off of my arm I mean it! I then prepared super and EVERYTHING was prepared with my chef's knife from the meat, to the vegetables. I actually cut my home grown vine ripe tomatoes with nothing but the weight of the knife. You have to have one, TRUST ME!!

It works well
The first I received had odd "damage" but was replaced without question. The second became an instant must-have directly following it's first use.

If you own a KME sharpening system, you need this!
This is a fantastic addition to the KME sharpening system. Reprofiled my Kershaw Link in M390 with the KME and then put the finishing touch on the blade with this stone. Had to reset the height up very slightly to account for the extra thickness of this hone using the magic marker on the edge to check things before going nuts with the final honing. I have never handled such a sharp knife in my entire life. The blade seems to just fall through things. It is phenomenal.

Requires an Angle Reset After Using the KME Diamond Stones
Firstly, the Ruby Ceramic is capable of putting a mirror edge on your knife, BUT this stone is significantly thicker than the KME stones, so you will need to trial and error it to match the nice edge you just layed down with your diamond or other KME stones. I had to do my best (using the Sharpie again) to figure out where I was hitting with the ceramic and even after painstaking efforts to raise the angle just enough over the diamond runs I had a great look, but wasn't quite hitting the very edge of the sharpening bevel. Why can the company use the same thickness as KME? Is that a copyright? It's a quality product, but not really a fit for the KME system without exact user adjustments. BTW, I don't use an angle finder. Perhaps that must be the next purchase. Probably from here on I'll stick with KME accessories.
