Must have for a 2000 and lower BMW
Adapter is needed on all 20 pin BMWs. You need this for all modules other than the DME IN M52TU engines. M54 these aren't needed.

THIS IS ONLY 3 WIRES.
The media could not be loaded. Although it looks like a nicely made adapter from the outside, when I tried to use it with both my iCarsoft Mercedes-specific reader and with my Bosch universal reader, all it would provide was basic engine diagnostics - just like I can get from the ODBII port under the dash. It does not facilitate access to the vehicle subsystems. Since answers from the vendor stated it would work without wiring, I was surprised that mine did not work. I opened it up and found that instead of 38 wires mapping to 16 connections, there are ONLY THREE WIRES INSIDE. That's it. Three. Pin 1 (of 38) maps to connections 4 and 5 on the OBDII side. Pin 4 maps to connection 7. Pin 3 maps to connection 16.Do not waste your money on this. Buy a proper connector that connects ALL 16 OBDII connections to their appropriate pins on the Mercedes connection.

2001 sl500 , product hooked up just fine with the car plug however the diagnostic OBD 11 does not read the car software. Plug fits the car but so what, you still can't read any faults. Don't buy this !!!
