BlochWomen's Jason Samuels Smith Dancing Shoe for Tap Dance

Not Authentic
These are not authentic - they are knock offs. Arrived without a box, obviously worn before. They didn’t have the signature inside as pictured, and were generally of poor quality. There were several spots that looked like white glue leaking onto the black shoe. I ordered another pair directly from the manufacturer and the difference was unbelievable. I love Amazon and usually get exactly what I order - but there is definitely a problem with these particular shoes. Do not waste your time or money ordering them from here.

The leather is super soft and the shoes themselves are incredibly sturdy
As a dance teacher, I appreciate that there is zero break-in time needed for these shoes. The leather is super soft and the shoes themselves are incredibly sturdy. I really like that the nonslip sole patches come separately. You do, however need to size up. I wear a size 8 (US womens) street shoe, sometimes 8.5 if I want more room in the toe. I like my tap shoes to fit like a glove. I ordered a 9 in these and they fit perfectly, with socks. I am very happy with these shoes. They are a good intermediate step between a student shoe and a pro shoe.

Loud and comfortable
The media could not be loaded. Nice and loud for a petite delicate tapper. My daughters tap teacher was thrilled when she used these. I’ve been told they are comfortable and supportive enough for toe stands.

Genuine
These are great tap shoes. Really comfortable and very little break in time. I wanted to address a couple of the reviewes stating these were fake because they arrived without the JSS signature on the insole. Mine did not have the signature either, so I contacted Bloch about it. They informed me that they are genuine, and the signature on the insole is neW, so not all the tap shoes have the signature. Hope this helps anyone purchasing in the future.

FAKE
These shoes are fakes and NOT Jsams at all! No signature on the inside of shoe as shown, nothing on box to indicate Jason Samuel Smith. Just plain Bloch. Ordered twice and just returning for a full refund. So incredibly disappointed!!

the best tap shoes I have ever owned
I bought these tappers true to size because I am used to snug fit in dance shoes...they are flexible and are ... without a doubt.... the best tap shoes I have ever owned. Did not notice any extra weight... you can really use your feet in these.....

Very supportive, good investment if you plan on tapping.
I'm just a regular tap dancer, I don't do really fancy stuff due to spine issues, but I can actually do more in these. I had regular tap shoes before, the $60 ones with the full sole. I decided to get these after my son accidentally threw out my old ones (they were in a grocery bag after recital, boys, *sigh*). My dance teacher and more pro dancers at my studio wear these and he said, "you'll never have to buy another pair". So I decided, go for it, treat yourself, up your game. I'm super happy I did. I love that the front, where the laces are, goes up higher then a regular shoe. And it has more padding. These ones are heavier then normal shoes so it took a class or two of adjustment, but my taps are more crisp and louder. They seem to be more stable for toe stands (tho the larger toe box took a bit of adjustment too). Obviously I don't know how long they last but I'm really glad I spent a bit more. Of note, I got really confused by the size chart and tried two smaller sizes. It ended up being the same size as my regular full sole Bloch's. One size larger then running shoe size. Also, they did have to be broken in.

Awesome shoes!
These tap shoes are the best! They are very heavy duty and great quality. The sounds on these are beautiful! Very sharp and loud sounds. They do run a bit small. I normally wear a 7.5 to 8 in street shoes and I had to get a few sizes before finding a good fit. I ended up with a size 8.5 in this tap shoes and it fits snug (which I wanted). I can still wear a pair of thin socks with them. The toe area was a bit tight when I first got them but have stretched a little since then and are now comfortable. They come with the rubber soles unattached. I chose not to put them onto my shoes (because I didn’t know how and I didn’t want to pay more money to find someone to do it professionally). There is definitely more sliding without them but I’ve gotten used to it. I do feel like the balls of my feet get a bit more sore after dancing for a while probably because of this. Overall, I love these shoes! I’ve had them for about two years now and I still love them. I’m considering getting them in white too! If you get these shoes, you won’t regret it!

made very small
Seems like a beautifully made shoe although very small ... I normally wear a 9 and a 10 was even a bit too small ... Also ... the shoes came with no laces which I found very odd? I questioned other buyers and they reported their shoes came with laces. I’m returning them for a half size up and I’m hoping thewe next ones come with laces! I’ll write a new review once I receive the new size!

... previous pairs of these tap shoes and was really disappointed in the sizing of this shoe
I have had 2 previous pairs of these tap shoes and was really disappointed in the sizing of this shoe. I was not able to even get my foot into this shoe when previously, the same size shoe was perfect. As thus, they had to be returned.
