Bassology of AC/DC: Bass Tab

Disrespectful to Cliff Williams, But Tabs are Decent
I rarely take the time to write reviews, but just had to for this "bassology" because it completely ignores Cliff Williams! It's called "Bassology of AC/DC" yet it contains virtually nothing about the great AC/DC bass player, Cliff Williams. Cliff appears in only one picture in the book (see photo) and it's a group shot that's barely 1/4 of a page; all the other pictures are of Angus, BJ, or Bon Scott. To make matters worse, in the Brief History section Cliff is mentioned once. Yes, just once - "Let There Be Rock followed in 1977, and shortly afterward Mark Evans was replaced on bass by Cliff Williams." That is literally the only reference to Cliff in a BOOK ABOUT THE BASSLINES IN AC/DC's MUSIC!! Phil Rudd was mentioned twice and that's because he left and rejoined the band. This is an absolute fail on the part of the publishers Music Sales America and Hal Leonard. As for the tabs, there are a few mistakes throughout the book (in the first four bars of Back in Black? C'mon) and the author says the songs are in alphabetical order in the book but then put Big Balls before Back in Black. On whole, the tabs seem fairly accurate but you'll have to listen to the original recordings to get the nuances of Cliff's playing down (if that's even possible as he really is a one of a kind player). The song selection contains almost every song off Back in Black, so don't expect a super comprehensive selection of songs from across the AC/DC catalog.A real shame that this book is a "Bassology" yet completely ignores Cliff, his musical history, bass gear, etc. If you play in a bar band, cover band, or AC/DC tribute band, it's worth getting this book to save yourself the trouble of figuring out the chord changes by ear.

Not easy for the beginner
This should have been an easy to use manual to play the ac/dc basslines. But it isn't. The tablature in it isn't at all simple if your not classically trained because the tabs are mixed with classical notations. Just lyrics, chords and bass tabs was what I expected from it. I'm a beginner so I put it aside.

Manumental opus
For people loving AC/DC and Cliff Williams, this is the "summa" of bass playing for a great hard rock music playing.
