Heil SoundPR 35 Dynamic Microphone

I use this PR 35 for singing on stage. It's very open, clear and strong,but I do have to use a windscreen on it and be careful of singing too strong when I'm up close.I'm getting the hang of it and it's well worth taking the time to do so. For one thing,it's the best sounding microphone on our stage and for another thing,it's making me have better mic technique. I use it for snare drum on recordings,too.

I am a professional gigging musician and this mic stepped up my game. I was using the Sure Beta previously, which is a great mic don’t get me wrong!But the mids and lows really come out on this mic, giving a richer fuller sound.Highly recommend!

this product quit working a month after I got it

I have looked all over the internet for examples and reviews of this microphone versus the Sennheiser E945/E935 and any other mic in that range of quality and price/performance.I also have a background in audio engineering and to top it all off, I'm just learning to sing lead vocals for the fist time in 30 years of music performance. I've always sang background vocals with every group I've been with but I wanted a bit more recently. I've become a bit obsessed with singing and on top of it, I've always been obsessed with quality audio (especially when it comes to the sound of MY voice).I bought the Heil PR35 and the Sennheiser E935 as well as the Sure SM58, and the Sure Beta 58, and the Sure Beta SM87A (phantom powered condenser). I also have experience with studio quality, large diaphragm microphones such as the Blue Bottle, Neuman, etc...I'm actually really wanting to rate it a 5 out of 5 BUT...I just can't.The problem lies in two areas. First of all, the low and high frequency are super excited. The low end of the spectrum is just a bit too much in the 60-80 HZ range. There is a switch that can be engaged as a "low cut" but it takes EVERYTHING away. There is literally nothing left. This is the biggest problem. If the low cut filter switch could cut a significantly less amount of the low end, then we wouldn't be sounding so thin.If you decide to leave the low cut filter alone, you better have some good mic technique and a quality wind screen because you will experience extreme plosives. Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers never sounded so volcanic.Don't get me wrong, this microphone is STELLAR! But, depending on your voice, you might like a Sennheiser E935 a bit better as the high end is full, the low end is tight and the look and build is quality.Good luck!

This mic has great response! I placed its performance against several of my current mics and it literally blew them away. Yes, you do have to be careful because it does have a tendency to breath pop, but a little skill can avoid that. Well worth the bucks!

This microphone really does sound amazing. high output. Rich bass tones. Silky mids and highs. However, this is my THIRD PR 35 in 2 years. Unacceptable! Heil, please make these more durable for a true roadworthy mic and not just a mic that sits in a studio!!

Great mic, gives somehow a low end boost that I like. It's great for vocals and does rejects lots of background noise. I have tested it for field radio recordings and on studio and I still don't find anything I dislike. The clip that comes with it is loosy and does not fit great but it does the job.

Omg...the Voice sounds fantastic with that Mic!!!!!!
