Big shoulders are IN!
My first Optimus Prime was the Powermaster Prime back in the late 80's, and how I loved that red and blue truck-bot! For a while the two of us were inseperable. Then came that dreaded age when I persuaded myself I was too old for such childish things, only to see my love for Prime reborn years later. In the meanwhile, I had missed out on several wonderfull incarnations of the Autobot leader, including the splended G2 Laser Prime with glowing sword and more missiles than you can shake a matrix at. While the Japanese re-issue looks marvelous, it is also at least $100 out of my price range. What's a collector on a limited income to do? And then came this guy. While admittedly smaller and lacking in the heavy fire power, his truck mode looks every bit as good as his older brother, and the robot mode looks even better! With a sword that cleverly doubles as a trailer hitchand a color scheme that pays homage to the original, the new G2 has well earned his place along side the other Primes on my shelf. Even the similarities to the inferior movie version of Prime (the flames on the hood, the shape of the sword) can't take away from the wonder and glory and splendor that is G2 Prime.

Nice Robot, Bad Truck.
First of all, this toy should've been a Voyager sized figure. Why it's not is a mystery but then again Hasbro isn't exactly known for making genius decisions.As far as the different modes, it has a really cool looking robot mode but kind of a sucky truck mode. The part that folds down over the wheels behind the cab rubs against the wheels so it doesn't even roll freely. It doesn't come down all the way so it stays at a slight angle that doesn't give the back wheels enough clearance. Also, the sword is pretty cool but I wish he also came with a gun. Oh well... 3 out of 5 stars.Besides the actual figure itself the seller's service was great and I got the figure in a very timely manner.

Size is surprisingly SMALL
I ordered this for my son for Christmas, so he hasn't opened it yet, but I was surprised to see how small it is. I'm sure he'll like it as a travel toy so I'm not sending it back, but the description is misleading (states length as 12", but that is apparently fully extended and not in its vehicle mode as one would imagine).

Gift for 5 year old son
My son LOVES Transformers, but many of the cars are too complex for him to work on his own. I was happy to see that they are packaged with level information so that I knew whether he would be able to do this himself. He is going to be a very excited little boy when he wakes up on Christmas morning!

A toy
I bought it for my 8 yr old nephew and he had to be really careful with it when twisting the parts so that they did not brake off.

return to the early 90's
This figure is a must. I could never find it in the stores, and it really takes me back to the G2 version from the early 90's. It's got alot more to offer in my opinion than it's original version. If you're debating at all, STOP. Pick this one up you won't regret it.
