BACKJACK 14521 Normal Blue

I bought this item in September 2014 for £80 +pp. Posted online comment that it was ok [not brilliant] but overpriced for the quality [there is some 'play' in the back support, and I never have been able to figure out how to collapse it down properly]. I did not return as I needed back support [plus the hassle]. Noticed my comments were removed and the price is now reduced. The new cost is a bit more realistic. Lesson for me .....don't be so easy going, return items if not completely satisfied!!

As a woman in my mid-60s I was looking for a way of sitting comfortably on the floor or outdoors, particularly in group situations where everyone is sitting on cushions. It was really important for me to be sitting at floor/ground level, and this is undoubtedly the best solution I have yet found (and having shelled out for it, I've stopped looking!).The positives are that it fulfils that purpose (though I wouldn't put it directly onto damp ground), it is very light, and the folding version is fairly compact, making it feasible to take on public transport. It is pretty comfortable, though it is more comfortable with a sheepskin fleece on it! It's also easy to assemble...BUTThe frame is not entirely stable. When picked up you can feel the frame pulling apart (the two halves of the frame are connected by an L-shaped rod that looks like an allen key - there is a video on YouTube that demonstrates its construction). This is quite disconcerting as it creates the fear that the whole thing is about to fall apart - even though that doesn't happen (or hasn't happened yet...). More importantly the chair is not entirely stable on uneven ground because of the instability of the frame, which can leave you feeling a bit twisted. The instructions tell you to tap the elbows against the floor once, but it didn't seem to make the thing more secure, and having seen other people's backjacks they all seem the same, so I don't think my incompetence is the cause!That said it is far and away the best solution that I have found, gives significant back support and Holzzwerge delivered swiftly and efficiently. For me its the difference between feeling comfortable to attend an event and probably staying at home. They are also recommended for meditation and I can see that it would be good for that for someone who finds it hard to sustain a crosslegged position with a straight back unaided. So far I have used it for a continuous period of 9 days (on and off!) in an outdoor situation, so can't comment on its longevity. On balance I'd say go for it!

Works exactly as I wanted. A little fiddly to put together but not a lot of parts and it is easy to put away when you're not using it. Very helpful.

yes it is great, easy to put together and folds away for easy packing

seems good so far although folding it can be a bit fiddly sometimes - think I will have to add some padding as the seat pad is quite thin
