Denso 234-4076 Oxygen Sensor

My Jeep was running RICH! Spewing black soot on the driveway when first started . Exhaust smelled terrible and gas mileage had fallen off. The upstream O2 Sensor had failed throwing a lean run condition code. The computer received that information and then provided too much fuel to the engine. So, a lean running code in this case had all the symptoms of a very rich running engine.Replaced the upstream sensor and It now runs good and the pungent exhaust smell is gone. The exhaust when first started does not have the black soot anymore as well.

It seems NGK/NTK have discontinued the upstream sensor for the Jeep 4.0 engine. No idea why as theyre are millions if them still around but anyway.This sensor worked oerfectly for my 98 Grand Cherokee 4.0 with 410k miles. The original finally went bad on me causing engine stalling and stuttering. New one so far has fixed it.Another plus is denso is an OEM brand for Jeeo for alternators and such and the o2 sensir had made in the usa stamped on it.This one is also the correct length to reach from the downpipe on the side of the black to the plug in front of the engine. It has like 2 or 3 inchs of slack too so perfect length.

Local auto part store was not "ready in advance" or otherwise. They had plenty of chances to get "ready" but that is another long story. This was the product that they could not deliver. Quick delivery. Easy install. Code cleared within half a dozen starts or less. Do not go cheap with sensors, this purchase was made to correct such a mistake. Buy once, cry once, or in this case sniffle as it was priced decently.

Works great

Product came in the original box from the supplier. Inner bag had been opened, but part appeared to be new and never installed. Included anti-seize grease, as it should have. Leads were longer than needed for my 2000 Jeep TJ but easily solved with cable ties.

Denso is a direct fit for your Chrysler vehicle. Only problem is that Amazon said that part # 234-4077 would work for the upstream sensor on my 1996 Dodge Ram truck. It is not Amazons fault because all other Auto Parts websites said the same thing. I ordered it and found out it is about 2 inches too short. It has a wire length of 12 inches. My original is about 14 inches long. I found out that this is an alternate part number. It is the exact same part but it has a 18 inch wire length with the same pigtail (it was another option I could of used but did not know about). The 234-4076 fit great and works great also. I loved the extra 4 inches of wire to work with. If you don't have the option of taking out your original and measuring the wire length, order the 234-4076. You can thank me later!

Cleared original fault code for the O2. Drove 15 miles and code returned. Cleared code again, drove about 15 miles, and code returned. I then replaced the O2 sensor with this Denso. So far have driven over 50 miles with no code. So this seemed to fix it. Will do an update around 10,000 miles or at failure, whichever comes first

This is the recommended number for the O2 Sensor, for a '98 Jeep Cherokee 4.1L. Installed and problems continued, took it to my favorite shop, and checked the unit, and it did not meet spec's. This is my second sensor installed, had the shop installed one purchased locally- problems eliminated.I would not recommend this Item be used on a '98 Jeep Cherokee 4.1L. In future will purchase from an auto parts store where I can have recourse on items that do not do the job intended. Mind you- this is the second sensor purchased from Amazon that did not work.

Fit my 98 Dakota just fine, and work great.
