Badd Newz: The Untold Story of the Michael Vick Dog Fighting Case

Good information, talented writer, stunning support of the villain.
Strouse is an excellent writer. There is great drama and suspense throughout. I wish she would have had someone proofread it though. I went through with a highlighter and marked all of the typos. If there are additional printings I thought it might be nice to have them corrected. But then I got to the last couple of chapters where she disparages the rescue groups. She speaks ill of them for trying to raise money to support the dogs even though Vick was ordered to pay almost $1 mil for their care. Michael Vick filed bankruptcy and how long do you think it could have taken to seize and distribute those funds!?!I applaud Miss Strouse for all the blood, sweat and tears that have been shed in the course of her good works. I thank her for writing the book so people know what Michael Vick did not just to the fighting dogs but to FAMILY PETS. Read the book. Or, just imagine the absolute worst. Let that sink in for a moment. Michael Vick is a Monster. Plain and simple. The evil that it takes to electrocute, drown, slam to the ground and hang dogs from a tree is so vile, 18 months in prison is a slap on the wrist. I'm so glad he lost his fortune. He should never have been allowed back in the national spotlight or the NFL. Never. He threw away that privilege when he murdered innocent animals. He had everything but it wasn't enough. He had to be the big man with the tough dogs only he wasn't. It is of no consequence that he lacked any skills as a dog fighter. He was obsessed with it and I imagine got great thrills of power from it. He is a sick individual.Equally sick is the thought that he deserves a place in the pro bowl. The NFL is corrupt and only cares about money and that sums up Vick as well. You have lost a ton of fans. The book is a great read despite the numerous typos. Be prepared to throw it against the wall when you read the last sentence however.

This was an informative look behind the scenes of one of the most famous arrests in the dog fighting circles. It makes you sad and glad at the same time. Sad for the fate of most of the dogs and the travesty of how they were murdered by a cold blooded group of people just out to make money off of them. Sad too of the some of the law agencies that got caught up in the Michael Vick - Star football player by looking the other way when they knew what was taking place and then trying to cover up and throw people off that were trying to get justice for the dogs! Shame on those people and Michael Vick. God will have to forgive him because I won't! Glad for the dogs that survived and are now in loving homes.

An inside view and the heartbreaking trials of pulling down dog fighters
Informative and revealing beyond the hype and media. The long hard road and the heartbreak of this type of work. Just the slightest turn in one direction or another and the world would still not know about the horrible sport of dog fighting and how pervasive it is on the planet. These book is not about this one case, location or person it is again the act of dog fighting. I had to skip over some of the pages but most this book let me know that my gut instinct about the whole situation and the people involved was "right on".Thank you Kathy for writing it; brutally honest and exposing.

Absolutely Engaging and Brilliant
In addition to the inside scoop and details of the Michael Vick affair, Strouse splendidly renders the imperative need for cooperation among animal care professionals and related agencies and officials. Along with the case facts and horrible realities of dogfighting, Strouse's personal insight into the physical and mental world of the companion animal field conveys a much needed appreciation and understanding of companion animal rescue and shelter work. Without understanding and collaboration from the general public, other animal animal welfare groups, law enforcement, lawyers, judges, and lawmakers etc. we will continue to struggle in our effort to protect and serve both humans and companion animals.

Just OK
The author presents an interesting point of view on this case, but it's not a neutral view. It was difficult to read -- small font on wider-than-usual pages made it a bit of a slog. Writing is just OK -- could've used a copyeditor to give it the once over.

Eye Opener
This is a great book and a real eye opener. Anyone who reads this book should have a whole new understanding of animal abuse and be absolutely sickened by the cruelty that an icon in this country bestowed upon innocent animals. I believe that he had to serve his time, but I do not believe that he should still be allowed to be in the NFL as someone that children look up to. It also implies that you can get by with this type of cruelty in our country.

More detailed info on the Vick case for those interested.
Having read The Lost Dogs and recently been involved with our own "fight bust" dogs I found the book very interesting. It was a bit confusing trying to follow all the players and aliases but a good read overall. I learned more terminology and behind the scenes info which was enlightening as another take in the Vick case.
