Abuelo y los tres osos/ Abuelo and the three Bears (Spanish and English Edition)

My son is in a Spanish immersion program at school and has to do some reading in Spanish. It can be challenging to find books in Spanish for him to read, I bought this for him to participate in a book club with his class mates. I was thrilled to realize when it arrived that one side was English and the other Spanish so he and I could both read it and discuss the story together.

The Spanish version (book contains both English & Spanish) was too advanced to read all the way through and maintain my 4-year-old daughter's attention - one who enjoys listening to very simple/easy books in Spanish at this point. However, the English side introduces a few Spanish words and even has a glossary for them at the end. I think this will create a good inroad for reading it in Spanish eventually. My daughter loved the story which brings together the familiar tale of Goldilocks, but with interesting deviations (black braids instead of golden locks, beans instead of porridge, and a prior friendly relationship rather than the meeting of strangers).

This is our go-to for Spanish/English books for school gift exchanges, etc. Cute story, and enjoyable in both languages.I will admit the story has a bit of an incongruity in that it goes from morning to night in the time it takes beans to cool, but the kids don't notice that detail, and it really is a sweet story.

My husband who was raised listening to the Goldilocks story is not fond of this book bu my daughter loves it (I read it to her in Spanish). I honestly think it is a cute take on the Goldilocks story but what I like most is to see the way the little kid and the grandfather interact throughout the story. I haven't really paid attention to the English version but the Spanish version is really well written.

My children love this book - The pictures are wonderful, and I like how one side reads upside-down - you meet in the middle. My four year old said, "Just like my Spanish workbook!" (We use Flip Flop Spanish curriculum)Some of the vocabulary they picked up on the first time through in Spanish was frijoles, broma, cocina, blanda, and bosque (beans, joke, kitchen, soft, and forest) - I know they'll continue to grab more phrases and words since they already know all the family and animal names from the Flip Flop book. Great buy! What a bargain!

I love this book. I am hispanic and I speak English and Spanish. My Husband speaks English only. Sometimes my daughter wants me or her daddy to ready the same book to her. . so I thought this book would be perfect for her, so I can read it in spanish and my hubby in english and that way she learns both languages.

Absolutely adorable, it made my daughter laugh with the twisted plot told by the "abuelo". It also has the story in English, that way my husband can read the book to our daughter without any problems, since he doesn't speak Spanish, and I can read it to her also.Very cute and excellent bedtime story

This is a great Latino adaptation of the classic story, with black-haired Trencitas instead of Ricitos de Oro (Goldilocks). The narrative is also very nice, having a story within a story. My son really loves it. He got it when he was about 21 months and he would ask me to read it again and again. I highly recommend it!

This is a story about 3 bears, told by Abuelo to his grandson. One side of the book is in English and the you flip it over and the other side in Spanish.

Reinforce Spanish as second language for my granddaughter. Very nicely illustrated.
