Old Spice Shave Cream - 70 g (Original) - Pack of 2

Background: wet shaving since the early 90s. Heavy, coarse beard.I just finished my first shave with this cream. Razor was a Razorock SLOC, preshave was PAA cube (non mentholated), Voskhod blade (third use), brush was Yaqi synthetic, aftershave was Old Spice.I put an amount a little larger than an almond in my lathering bowl, and it was more than enough for a nice, two pass shave with a little buffing on the neck. The lather was decently slick. The scent is there, but it is not strong at all. This is ok with me as I want a good shave first and foremost. It delivered that.My beard is tough. My whiskers are very coarse. This allowed the SLOC to move through two days of growth with no problem. After rinsing the razor there was enough slickness from the cream left for comfortable buffing. I experienced no irritation. O did not feel any tightness or drying post shave, but I do tend to have oily skin.All in all, an enjoyable and comfortable shave. It is not as slick as Arko or Cremo, but it did rinse off the razor and my face much easier. The scent is very mild and should bit interfere with whatever after shave or cologne you decide to use afterwards.I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it. It would be great for everyday use, awesome for traveling as it doesn’t take up much space, and the price is much better than many shave soaps and creams, and much better than many artisan soaps/creams.

Sure, the formula was changed after the original company was purchased in the 90s, so this is the "original" scent from that era. Still, it's quite nice. The shaving cream makes a nice lather, and doesn't leave too much scent behind after rinsing.

I still remember the scent of Old Spice as my father used Old Spice products. When I was in college, I received an Old Spice shaving kit, which was comprised of a shaving mug with soap and a brush. I eventually lost track of the mug and brush. Now in my 60s, I decided to give Old Spice another try. This shaving cream smells great and reminiscent of what I remember in my younger years.The cream lathers up well and provides a good slick cushion for shaving. I use a double edged razor (I’ve gone “old school”) to shave, so a good shaving cream is important. I use a shaving brush and bowl to create the lather. It works well and leaves me with a slight scent on my face after rinsing off. I switch between it and other shaving creams I use. It’s now a regular in my shaving cream rotation.

I love the way it smells a very classic old spice scent. It lathers up nicely and is very slick to provide a most comfortable shave.

I recently got into wet shaving in an effort to slow down and be more caring to my ugly mug. Some of my fondest memories from early adolescence was my father coming out after a shave and filling the house with the intoxicating scent of Old Spice. Put simply, this new shave cream is not that. It has way too soft of a scent, and most of the smell is of powder. Basically you get smacked in the face with a sock full of powder. Now, that being said, some may love the scent. It’s not bad, just not what I was hoping for.The performance aside from the scent is rather nice though! Froths quickly(with a brush), feels nice on the face, provides plenty of slickness to allow the razor to glide over your skin, and not getting in the way of the razor slicing through all those pesky whiskers.End of the day, it’s a good cream. Just don’t hope for the “old” old spice scent when you squeeze the first dollop out of the tube.

I guess the amount in the tube is proportionate to the price but they were kind of small. The lotion doesn’t have much of an old spice aroma, kind of plain.

So, I shave with safety razor and over the years have tried a variety of different soaps, most of them in the form of a hard puck. I started using a soft cream like this and will not be going back to the hard soaps again. It gives a great lather, a great shave and the scent is good but not overpowering.
