One of the best compact pedals I've used.
Although it may look a bit daunting, with a bit of practise you'll find this simple enough to use. Good range of effects (although I found some unnecessary) and excellent sound quality. Throw in the looper and the drum section and all in all a good value for money piece of kit. (Like anything, practice makes perfect and if you take it slowly, with a bit of patience, you'll get there. After a few uses you'll wonder what all the panic was about) Instructional videos are available online.

Fun, but could be better
I've had tremendous fun with my Zoom G1XFour. It's nice that you can download the Zoom Guitar Lab application and mess around with the effects parameters via the PC. It's disappointing that the G1X Four does not have enough onboard memory to allow you to download new effects onto it from the Guitar Lab without first deleting ones already on the device. Admittedly you can back-up your effects in the Lab app and thus can get them back whenever you need, but come on! Memory is cheap these days. I'd like to have all the effects in the Lab on the device - but I can't because Zoom didn't give the G1X Four enough memory. I bought the one with the pedal and found that the pedal isn't that useful to me, so I've pretty much deleted all the pedal-related effects in order to get more interesting ones from the Lab. I also found that I do need to keep messing about with the volume controls within the effects (and via the master volume control) when moving from one patch to another - it's hard to get consistent volume across patches. This is a bit frustrating, but I suspect it's more to do with my use of the device than the device itself. The rhythm functionality is great - lots to choose from and it makes practice much more fun. The G1X Four is pretty battery hungry - I'm skeptical about the "about 18 hour continuous operation" claimed in the documentation - I think the keyword is the "about" - so get a decent stock of AA's in or get an AC adapter. A decent enough device for a starter guitarist on a budget.

Music heaven!
If you want a loop pedal, drum beat and effects then look no further. This is great. Customisable easy to use and compact too! Worth every penny!

Well built and easy to use
Bought this as a gift for my father. He was over the moon - excellent quality product and easy to use.

Just one problem...
Really good value especially because of the on board drum machine, the good number of great sounding pre-set effects, and for me, the ease of using it sitting down with the extra buttons alongside the foot-switches. But only one complaint which others have also mentioned, the BIG shift in volume levels when switching from one tone effect to another - until you hit the guitar strings you don't know that the new effect is going to jump way up or down in volume - this is annoying and fiddly to control.

Amazing.
I can't believe how good this thing is for ~£100. The standard presets are a bit lacking but take the time to do your own or you can download "patches" with the sounds you like. I've managed to dial in a pretty accurate Slipknot tone using an Ibanez pedal and an Orange head into an Orange amp.

Very nice "Toy"!
Well worth the money, it does properly everything it is supposed to do. It is not very intuitive to modify the effects, but it becomes easy after a while. The PC connectivity and the software are very challenging to set up. Besides that, the product sounds credible for its price ;-)
