Musical FidelityM3SCD CD Player and Stand-Alone DAC - Black

This CD player produces the full, smooth yet detailed sound that Musical Fidelity is known for. It is the perfect partner for my Musical Fidelity MF3 integrated amplifier. This player is very well made, with solid construction throughout with the exception of the cheap feeling plastic CD tray. The operation of the tray is very smooth and exudes quality it is just that the tray itself could be a beefier plastic or other material for the price of this unit. The sound and overall construction of this unit is so good that I don't mind the plastic CD tray and would still give this unit a five star rating. The internal DAC onboard this player is outstanding and delivers a wide ranging, smooth sound with amazing nuance and detail. As an experiment I ran the digital out from this player through my very highly rated Arcam irDAC to compare it to the CD's onboard DAC. They were close, with the MF DAC producing an overall smoother sound with just a tad more detail and dynamics than the irDAC. This CD player sounds superb with all styles of music I have tried on it and seemed to extract more detail than I've ever heard from my classical music CDs. I also fed the digital optical out on my TV through the internal DAC on this player and the sound is breathtakingly detailed, clean and dynamic. Finally, this player and its matching Musical Fidelity amplifier look very classy together in my media cabinet. These make a VERY entertaining pair and are worth every penny.
