Get an H7 instead if the price is similar.
This is an older polar product. It uses bluetooth smart AKA bluetooth 4 or bluetooth LE. Only newer apple or android smartphones, and small handful of watches with bluetooth receivers support this product.Although originally I thought that having my smartphone recording my heart rate was enough but looking at your smartphone screen really isn't that convenient. If you come across one of those rare and expensive watches that will pair with the device, you can't use this HRM over two devices simultaneously over bluetooth. With the H7, polar's current product, you can pair the device with your smartphone over bluetooth and it will send a separate signal to a compatible polar wrist watch or cyclocomputer. That way you can have easy access to your current heart rate.I use this device with a 2015 Motorola E smartphone. It works with RidewithGPS and many other 3rd party fitness apps. The polar beat app does not appear to be written with bicycling in mind, so I do not use their app. The pairing with my smartphone is reliable. I have not had any disconnects. I ride with the smartphone in my front shirt pocket or a handlebar bag. The battery is a common lithium coin cell and user replaceable.Although the strap is described as XXL in size, I wear a XL shirt and the strap is adjusted maximum length at a comfortable tension. If you wear a XXL shirt, I don't think this HRM will fit.Overall if you can get the H6 at a deep discount and you simply want to use it with a smartphone it will work. If it is currently priced similarly with the H7, get the H7 as you can use it with gym equipment or a wrist watch should you desire that functionality in the future.

The functioning of the product is great, however it turns out I'm allergic to the inner rubber piece of the sensors, and break into a deep pruritic rash after each time I where it. If your prone to allergies, buyer beware. If they made a hypoallergenic version it would get 5 stars. It does sync great with all my fitness apps on my phone: My Fitness pal, edmondo.

So far, so good!
I love my Polar H6. I hadn't had an issue yet with it. It tracks my heart rate with ease and the software seamlessly is in sync with my phone. I hadn't had any issues with it not being able to detect my phone or the program as of yet, but I will keep using and update, as needed if I run in to any issues.6 years later this thing still works and syncs with the polar app. This was a good buy!

Heart rate sensor
Use this when I work out. It's fantastic and keeps great records. Use it with iPhone or log online to access records. Very comfortable to use.

purchaced this to go with the Polar Loop. worked great first time. what else can I say, it reports Heart rate and is water proof.

Great monitor
Finally, a monitor that works well! I have tried others, including one from Polar, but this unit sinks every time and works well. I am using the free Polar APP and the voice feed back option is great. Lets you know after every mile/lap what your time is, lap rate, and average heart rate.

Love my Polar H6, every time Ii use it ( mostly while running , walking or Bikram Yoga) I feel great...Getting the most out of my exercise and the ability to track accurately, the calories burned...

Conseguí enlazarlo de forma sencilla y rápida con las app Runtastic y RunKeeper del iPhone 4S. La cinta elástica se puede regular para ajustarla al pecho, además se sujeta bien sin moverse pero sin apretar. El medidor de pulsaciones se puede separar de la cinta lo cual viene muy bien para poder lavarla a mano con un poco de jabón y secarla.
