Hello, This can be used as a sofa, but would not pivot backwards and lay flat.

Q: Is it cozy and big enough for a 10 yr old to take a nap on?

It is very comfy with a couple of blankets and a soft throw pillow. I would think napping would be possible but not sure because of the angle of the chair that the neck would be on. My 10 and 9 year old like it a lot for lounging. Only my 6 year old lays down on it.
