A Well-Fertilized Garden(er)!
I have been looking for information on raised bed gardening so finding Pylarinos' book came along at just the right time.As I get older, bending down so much to plant and tend a garden has gotten increasingly difficult, so I especially appreciated the tips and information regarding how raised beds alleviate that problem. Also, my father-in-law, who was raised on a farm, is now in a wheelchair, but likes to have a hand in things and would be able to buzz between the raised beds on his 4-wheeler easier than just circling the outside of the entire garden. He also was quite the fisherman in his day, so I'm digging (little garden humor there) the idea of using old wooden fishing boats as kind of pre-made containers. The practical advice was great and while it is evident that the author knows her material well, she does not treat her readers as if they were in grade school, as many experts tend to do.The tips and ideas are practical. I feel the cautions given over the amount of work involved at the beginning are accurate. And while we have about an acre of arable land, I'm going to start looking for an old wooden boat to be my garden's first raised bed frame for the 2015 growing season.Overall, an excellent primer for those new to gardening in general or raised bed gardening in particular.

I used some recycling materials to build it like old wáter tanks and big barrels
Since I started reading the book, my planting project has been going very well. I’ve started making my raised bed garden to grow some vegetables and flower plants. I used some recycling materials to build it like old wáter tanks and big barrels. I’ve made some planting combinations in the different containers of the raised bed. For example, some insects are avoid by combinating some tomatoe and cabbage plants planted in the same container according to the recommendation of the book. The insects that usually attack cabbage are repelled by tomatoe plant. My family is fascinated by the idea to grow our own food. I’ve learnt how to cultivate different vegetables according to the season we are in. Thus, this is an interesting way to know more about nature.

Too Basic for this Novice Gardener. Too Pricey for what it is.
I am a novice gardener who is starting raised beds this summer (2015). Much of the information in this $16 paperback can be located for free at the state university's extension. I did find some helpful tips on starting a new site (pages 10-11) and planting (pages 20-24). So I found 7 pages helpful out of a 50-some page book. For the price, I do not think this is worth the money. I do not recommend. If the price were lower, like under $10 then MAYBE I would want to buy it again, but not for $16. Look elsewhere or go to your university's extension online.

Excellent Overview of Raised Bed Gardening
This is exactly what I was looking for to get started with my raised bed garden. I wanted something straight to the point and with all the essential pieces of information. I'm sure there are other resources out there which debate the finer points of planting, but this guide had the perfect amount of information to put my plans into action. I particularly enjoyed the individual sections on the various types of raised bed gardens methods and the basics for the main starter crops. If you are looking to get started with raised bed gardening, this is the definitive guide.

It looks like it will be a very helpful book
It looks like it will be a very helpful book. But I didn't research the description and was surprised it was small and a few pages. For the price I thought I was getting a much larger book. Disappointed in the price, but it will be helpful.

Definitely the Ultimate Guide
This is a great guide. My wife and I have been wanting to add a garden bed to our yard, but we were not really sure how to start. This book changed all of that. We are now planning to set up our first raised bed garden. Packed full of great tips, this book will get you started too!

shocking
Probably the most hopeless book I have ever purchased. The level of misdescription in the word "ultimate" in the title is monumental. I will waste no more of my precious time. DO NOT BUY!!

Unattractively presented
No illustrations or diagrams. Very cheaply produced. Information is ok but a very boring read.

Not for me
Odd book. I'm not sure that I can source a boat to use as a raised bed...
