The stitches around the buttons are not good.. white threads showing up and looks terrible on black pants

For the amount, it is a pretty decent buy. The material is not as thick as a typical jeans fabric, and its quite loose. Always buy a size or two less. But when I opened the package there was this strong rubber + vinegar smell that was almost nauseating. I was tempted to wash it immediately prior to trying but wasn't sure if the fit would be okay. After I trued it on once, even my skin was smelling the same. I immediately took it off and soaked it in soap. It did run color a little bit. The smell seems to have faded after a wash but not completely gone. What is this smell???
