Terrorist Recognition Handbook

I purchased the book for additional reference material for a research paper. I was already half way through the class within weeks before the paper was due. The book arrived approximately two weeks ahead of the time indicated. I was impressed since the book was sent outside of the United States which usually requires longer shipping time. The book was in was in excellent condition when it arrived.The book itself is excellent, I have two undergraduate degrees in the terrorism field and completely my Graduates degree in the same area. This book adds a great amount of detail for a counter-terrorism practitioner. Many of the books on terrorism seems to repeat the same material, the material does not repeat much of what I have read and studied previously. It also provides as an excellent reference guide for criminal investigators.

This book is an excellent read for those in the security industry as myself. A lot of it is stuff I already have been trained on but was an excellent refresher. Other parts, such as the case studies, show how possible indicators had been ignored or examined that could have prevented or did prevent attacks. Also this book shows how different terrorist groups operate and their similarities which was very interesting. Even though this was written before Al-Qaeda has been taken down a few notches it still holds true and is a great reminder to continue to stay vigilant even when things seem quiet.

Twenty years ago the officers of the general's staff in the infantry division in which I served received a series of briefings from representatives of MOSSAD about the nature of terrorists and terrorism since there were worldwide alerts for the US military at that time for the activities of the old groups (Red Brigades, Bader-Mienhoff, etc) Those briefings were at the time classified. But let me say this: This book is essentially THOSE briefings!If every law abiding, patriotic American read this book and took the lessons to heart, it would make it almost impossible for the next 911 to occur.

Would like to see his latest thoughts on this topic ,especially with the current world situation. I appreciate Mr. Nancy's analysis.

Nance knows his subject and commits to it. there is much here to identify and understand terrorist tactics. well done.
