Made in China
Good razors are a good price. However I was disappointed to see a veteran owned company manufacturer their product in China

Razor blade
All in all I really like the product. They shave great and so far every blade has been just as great as the last. No quality control issues here. Will definitely be a return customer.

Great blade, responsive company, a win-win for everyone
A few weeks ago I happened upon a thread on Badger & Blade about a new grooming/DE shave company named Battle Brothers. This group of military veterans is working diligently to bring double-edge blade manufacture back to the US. Their backstory is at once interesting and compelling. A group of vets aiming to put American quality and innovation back in the mix for we DE enthusiasts. But are the blades really that good?I was fortunate enough to be sent a sample tuck from the company to try. With my son currently serving I had a hunch I would be supporting this outfit but I wanted to do so with my face intact, not shredded. So I popped one in my Merkur 38C and settled in to see where it would take me.I have used a number of decent blades: Astra SP, Gillette Silver Blue, German Wilkinson Sword, Shark Super Stainless, Lord Super Stainless, Personna Reds, and a few others—still more waiting their turn (I like to keep my shaves interesting). Thus far, the Astra SP and German Wilkies are two of my top favorites, and they garner a lot of positive feedback as well, and deservedly so. The Battle Brothers blade is easily at the top of my personal list, which surprised me a little because I really like my Astras. Some reviews had said the blade tugged at bit at first, but I had no such experience. Matter of fact the first stroke was truly smooth. I actually said aloud “Man, that was super smooth!” I’m a daily shaver and my beard isn’t super coarse, but it’s not fine either—and I am fortunate not to have sensitive skin. I will generally do a two-pass shave and maybe some touch ups on the neck, but this first use was so comfortable I decided to go for 3 passes all over. Ended up with a genuine BBS shave that felt great, with no irritation or nicks.Second and third shaves I used different soaps with absolutely no degradation of performance from the blade. Still very efficient and gave true BBS on my face and DFS+ on my neck, something I still struggle with, and from my persistent reading I’m not alone.I know some guys will call it quits after the third, but I like to see what kind of durability/life span a blade can provide. Having said that, I’m not the type to push every blade I try to the point of searing irritation just for the sake of using a blade lots of times. But, onto four-plus I headed.Fourth shave: Used a different soap, one without tallow but rather a lot of different oils; I really want to like this soap because it’s slick as all get out but it’s too thin for my tastes. Felt just a touch of irritation after this shave (another 3-pass), but I wasn’t convinced it was all the blades fault.Fifth and sixth shaves: Back to prior form for Battle Brothers. Different soaps on both shaves and both still without irritation or nicks . . . and still DFS+ all over. This blade is a keeper.Seventh shave: As I write this it is about 2 hours after my morning shave. I stroke my face and neck and am still absolutely amazed by how smooth my shave was considering it was the 7th go ‘round. As perfect as a brand new blade? Not quite, but seriously close. No tugging, no irritation, still a smooth, comfortable and effective glide. At this point I’m supremely confident I could get another quality 2-4 shaves from this blade, at a minimum.Bottom line?As always, experience, beard, growth pattern, skin type, etc. are all unique to each person. But much like the Astras, Voskhods, Gillettes, Feathers, etc—blades which have overwhelmingly positive reviews—the Battle Brothers blades are, without reservation, easily in the upper echelon of the elite performers.Smoother, yes. As brutally sharp as a Feather? Perhaps not quite, but not by much. I would place these blades on at least equal footing with Astra SP, and honestly, perhaps even just a little above. I understand blade preference is an unequivocally subjective issue. But we all look for and desire a nice, smooth, comfortable shave without irritation or other nasties. Do yourself a favor and give these beauties a shot. You may just find, as I have, they deserve a permanent place in your blade rotation. And you’ll be supporting not just the veterans of Battle Brothers but a host of other veteran related causes as well . . . and getting a fantastic shave in the bargain.
