These are not leather, but the fit is correct for a size 5.5 to 6 UK. The colour is great and in the outside it’s not obvious that it isn’t leather but on the lining of what would normally be the leather strap going across the foot, the inside of this it is obviously synthetic, but doesn’t seem to cause my feet any issues so far. It makes these a little more affordable than its leather counterparts. The inside sole is leather though, so the shoe wouldn’t be considered vegan friendly for those looking to avoid leather, but feels more comfortable and grippy to me with the leather insole.

After much deliberation, I finally decided to buy myself a pair of Birkenstock Madrids. I looked at numerous websites to try to determine what size I would need (I have read on a few sites, Amazon included, that you should choose a size smaller in Birkenstocks than you usually take in other shoes). I am of small build (size 8-10 in clothes) and have always been told that I have quite narrow/delicate feet, and I take a size 6 (39) in most shoes. This considered, I was unsure what size Birkenstock would be best for me, so I ordered a size 38 and size 39, both in normal width (M). When they arrived, the width of both shoes was perfect, but the size 38 was too small in length. Birkenstock recommend that there should be a gap of a few millimetres at the toe end, to allow your feet to move freely, and for me the 38 didn't allow for this - my toes were pushed right up against the edge of the shoe. The size 39 however, was a perfect fit in all respects, and therefore, I find Birkenstock's sizes to be accurate. After about a week of wearing my new Birkenstocks around the house, I am still pleased with the comfort, and this improves with every wear.So in summary, I would highly recommend buying your usual shoe size in Birkenstocks. After all, they are the experts and must size them that way for a reason. As I said earlier, the shoes are designed to allow your foot to move freely, almost as if you are not wearing shoes at all. From my point of view, having a shoe that does its job in supporting your feet correctly and comfortably is much more important than buying a smaller/narrower size just to adhere to fashion.

I'd heard lots of good things about Birkenstock sandals but couldn't understand why they were so expensive with other summer sandals. I now know why - they're not your average sandal! Made to the highest quality, they really can last a lifetime as the footbed and sole can be replaced. These came in the Birkenstock box and I was delighted at the colour (Toffee) of the leather. Being new, they do take a while to soften (both the leather and the footbed) and mould to your feet so it is recommended to wear them in around the house until they're comfy before venturing outside. Once this is done, they're a perfect fit, light on the foot and supports perfectly the arch of your foot and allows room for toes to fully lie straight. Almost like walking barefoot with support, they really are that comfortable. I'd write more but I'm off to buy some other styles and colours!

Name rubbed out quite Quick but otherwise good

I have been a fan for Birkenstock for many years and have been looking for a replacement for my all time favourite pearlised cerise pink pair for years!These are fantastic and photos do not do them justice. They are a shiny hologram type effect and catch the light beautifully.I was worried as they state narrow fit but I cannot see any difference between these and my other pairs.The pink buckle and the pink soles are a nice addition.If you are a fan of the original Birkenstock Madrid (with the strap on the outside) then don’t hesitate. They are well worth the investment!

These look just amazing. Got them in cherry and they are just the sweetest thing. However,after first and2nd wear,felt like wearing bricks:). Wore them around the house and now are perfect as comfort.SIZING: im a 39--so i decided to go with a 39 in narrow. When i tried them on, they seemed perfect but in fact they are t a lil small. Birks are suppose to be a lil roomy so that the 'magic'will happen' :)They are ok to wear like this,just that my toes hit the edge..and they are not suppose to.I got 2 other pairs,a gizeh in 39 normal and a arizona in 40 normal,abd the 40 fits as it should. I do not recomend going a size down, i recomend choosing your size in a narrow width if u feel your feet are too narrow(except for thong style ) .They seem so awkward at first...but after breakin them in,they become your best friend.Also recomand to get leather uppers,much better

An absolutely wonderful and comfortable pair of sandals. They fit well and make walking effortless, although they do take some breaking in. Be sure to try both the narrow and normal size, as you need to have some room for the feet to sit comfortably within the sole, also bear in mind that the leather straps will stretch so have some room to tighten them in time. They will adjust to your feet and help make walking a pleasure.Made with the care and quality that you would expect from Birkenstock, these Madrid clogs are the must have item currently in the South of France, if you want to keep up with the summer trends, then buy them now.
