Wonderful quality should be read much before the movie

Growing up, I remember this book coming out it was so simple and loving. Well I haven't thought about this book in 30+ years. Then I did hear about the movie. So it brought make amazing memories. I decided to get the book for my sister, since we both read that book as kids. Instant transport back to the 80s.... she told her daughter that when she has kids, she will be reading that book to them....see...it's generational w some of these books....majority of movies came from books etc...so if you remember the little bald headed kid wearing an all blue one piece pj's, who has a magical purple crayon that takes him on adventures...then you've found it. It's innocent. It's simple. It's something to be cherished.

I mistook “hard” as toddler-friendly hard pages, like the last time I ordered. I was mistaken. Pages are paper. 😅

The media could not be loaded. This is a review of Harold and the Purple Crayon, hardcover version.I was born in 1953 and this book was one of the first that I was introduced to as a child. I'd basically forgotten about this book until I saw it at a relative's' house. I was instantly taken back in time as I leafed through the pages and recalled every intimate detail of the book as I did so. That says something to what an impact a book like this can have on a child.I hadn't seen this book in over 50 years yet I remembered virtually every page once I began looking through its pages. The illustrations are so memorable. Who after reading this book could ever forget the "terribly frightening dragon"?What you need to be aware of are the various versions of this book. There are at least 5 different sizes of this hardcover book available.- The 60th Anniversary hardcover edition is sized 5" x 5.9".- The 50th Anniversary hardcover edition is sized 6.4" x 7.8"- The edition with the "Weekly Reader Editor's Choice" designation on the back cover measures 5.6" x 7"There is also a version that is also sized 6.4" x 7.8" without a 50th Anniversary seal on the cover as well as a board book version (which I would not recommend) that is 5.5" x 6.2". So to avoid disappointment, be sure you are ordering the correct edition.I love this book and bought it as an adult not only for my own enjoyment but also to share with my nieces and nephews and their eventual children.
