Annotations
I really like Eric's work. Both the TV series and the book, so far, have been interesting. However, I am unable to finish the book because I cannot get annotations to turn off and stay off.I don't like reading books where someone has taken a highlighter and marked in it. I don't think I should be forced to read an electronic book with highlighting in it, either.Edit: the latest update to Kindle has fixed the annotations. I was able to read without distraction, and I agree with those who say that this book is really good! I like the depth he goes into with the various craftspeople, and also with himself. It is giving me some really valuable insights.

A Splendid Read
Written in a gentle voice, the authors' passion for the subject matter shines through in each page. If you are not sure what constitutes being a maker, Eric Gorges and Jon Sternfeld guide the reader through several wonderful and unique examples. Included is autobiographical information that illustrates and furthers the subject in a humble tone. An inspiring and rich book.

Authentic
Eric Gorges’ book explores, his journey to being a craftsman and then a TV host. While his show is promoted/mentioned throughout the chapters, I cut him some slack as the meaningful soul searching parts are worth it. There’s not much practical here but plenty to ignite the urge to find your creative calling.

Much more than the title — a great read for everyone!
This book is beautifully written and captures themes that go well beyond working with your hands and craftsmanship. No matter what field you are in, there are pearls for your success and inspiration to strive to be your best. Not something I would normally pick up but the author is local. I ended up buying 4 more copies for all my siblings and another one for myself as I gave my original to a friend. Everyone I have shared this with has loved it and shared their surprise at how it either motivated them or caused introspection and enlightenment. Highly recommend as an unusual and interesting book club book! (And you will find yourself looking up and watching some episodes of his show to get to know some of the craftsmen — which just extends the pleasure of the book) Truly an enjoyable read. I hope he writes another one!

A Great Book
I found this book to be interesting and inspirational. I was afraid it was going to just be a rehash of the episodes, and while several are mentioned, it was more about obstacles overcome and the lessons learned by the Craftsman.I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in in pursuing a hobby or career of a skilled tradesperson.A big thank you to Eric and his team for the show and the book.

Meaningful readings
I have seen Eric's show on PBS and was delighted to find the book. It is an easy to read book because of the clarity of writing. Mr. Gorges describes the crafts and arts of many people so I can visualize what he experienced first hand.

A Wonderfully Uplifting Book
My one and only complaint about this book is that it eventually had to end. This is a very heartfelt walk through the world of making, and it reminded me of the sense of purpose that I’ve felt through my own woodworking projects. I’ll be looking up the episodes of this television show and hoping Eric Gorges decides to follow this book up with another.

Easy, Enjoyable Read
It's an interesting book of you are a craftsman. The author writes well which made it an easy read. It was a bit distracting when the author veered away from the subject of craftsmanship to talk about his medical issues. Still a decent read.
