Great Bag!
If you're looking for a bag for hiking, hunting, airsoft, paintball or for use with a militia, this bag is great! As you may or may not know, this is based off of the 1945 version of the musette bag that was in use with U.S. Paratroopers during WWII and Korea. This one wasn't used during WWII (I mean the design, not this specific bag) on a large basis because it was a 1945 version to replace the 1936 version which was mainly used in OD #3 (often called "khaki").This bag is the jumbo version of Rothco's musette bags, so it is bigger than the traditional bag.Since it's Chinese made and it's cheap, I honestly expected the stitching to be horrible and rip easily. I actually pulled on all parts that used stitching, but it doesn't rip and it is surprisingly well made.I gave this a 4/5 only because of the coloring is not what it looks like in the picture. Is it a big deal? Honestly, no, because I prefer the color of the actual bag when you receive it. It's a darker, more "olive drab" than a green like it seems in this picture. It looks better in person with the color than it does on here. There is a back area that is separate from the main pouch and it closes with a simple button at the top that is a "snap" type. With the jumbo version (which I purchased), you can hold a full hydration bladder in it standing up! So if you like the older look with the musette pack but still like the convenience of a hydration bladder, then it will work! You will need to find a way to keep it standing up, but it's not that hard. The back area isn't made for a hydration pouch, but it still works. There is a side compartment that you can see in the pictures and it's really nice for a small, hand-held radio. The main compartment is pretty huge and you can fit about two sets of BDU's (XL top and XL bottoms) with some extra room! For the price, you can't beat it.

Great Bag But . . .
THIS REVIEW IS REALLY FOR ROTHCO, THE MANUFACTURER. Great sturdy well madebag in beautiful olive color but, the metal tips on the straps are too wide to fit through the hardware to close! There's a defect in this otherwise perfect bag. Love it so much we're not returning. I took off metal tips, coated ends in wax (so it wouldn't unravel), then with a ruler and permanent black magic marker colored the ends to look like original. Worked like a charm, but not sure how many buyers would go through the trouble so this is something definitely to look into. Unlikely that it was only the bag we ordered. Bonnie in NY

Good value, but cheap hardware.
This bag is very large and has plenty of space for anything you need. The straps for the large pouch will do a good job of holding lighter loads, but a better latch would serve much better and stronger. The strap tips came off after a short time, or they were too big to pass through the buckle and had to be bent. Again, the overall product is very well made and the material is tough, but it may take a little DIY to make it perfect. I currently use mine as saddle bags for my ebike and the straps fit perfectly over the rear basket mesh.

OK Product, But Misleading Product Description
Purchased this item based on the product description. It clearly states that the shoulder strap is adjustable AND that the backpack straps are also adjustable. Based on this, I believed that the bag could be used as either a shoulder bag or a back pack. However, there is no shoulder strap included with this product. Nor, is there a place actually designed to hook a shoulder strap to. If you unclip the two back pack straps from the rings at the base of the bag and clip them together to make a shoulder strap, the two metal clips rest squarely on the top of your shoulder. Very uncomfortable. I removed a shoulder strap from an old laptop bag and attached it to the metal adjustment slides on the musette bag's back pack straps to see if it could still work as a shoulder bag. It "kinda sorta maybe not really great but OK" worked. Considering now whether to return the bag for a refund or keep it. WORD OF WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING BUYING THIS BAG: IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SHOULDER BAG, DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Durable cheap pack
These are great for the money. Simple and durable. Getting harder to find quality values like this these days. Great for a day pack, hunting pack, bushcraft etc. I liked it so much I ordered another one.I was surprised how much I could actually fit in this thing. And packed smart its still fairly comfortable. By putting a folded up tarp in the large thin pocket that rest against your back it keeps stuff from poking you in the back from the main compartment. Many people complain that when the back straps are hooked together for a over the shoulder setup(man purse) ,that the metal clips dig into the top of your shoulder. I quickly figured out if you just shorten one of the straps all the way that drops the placement to a more comfortable spot against your chest. However, since the straps are on the thin side with no padding this pack does have a weight limit to retain comfort levels. For the price and the fact that this is based off early 20th century ruck I can't complain.

Sturdy, well made, and a great value.
I bought this for a very specific reason, this is my "gun bag." I transport three pistols in their cases, eye protection, ear protection, and towels in this bag. It is a perfect fit! The construction seems sturdy enough, and should last for a long time as I am easy on my things. The canvas is of a suitable weight for the use I put this to. This bag will go to the range with me every week, and will travel with me when I meet friends for shooting events. I actually have the smaller version which I use as an ammo bag, and find it to be perfect for that use as well.

Functional
The bag overall is fine. has good size. I'm using them for saddlebags on a small motorcycle. The Metal tabs on the ends of the front straps are not installed correctly - I bought two bags and the metal tabs fell of of two of the staps within 3 days. 50% failure is not good. You can't put them back on - you have to seal the strap with something - they are cotton so you cannot melt the end like a nylon strap.
