A lot of Fun
This book was a lot of fun, I watch and read a lot of stories involving the subject of immersive vr. This one right here catches you and holds you to the end. Not to serious and not just jokes but definitely knew how to set the tone for a book and a series I can't wait to read the whole series!!

Is it good?
This book came up on a random post on my Facebook page, I thought to myself, why not. I personally like this still of writing. Overall, I give it a 5. The price is worth buying as it's not a fast read. The story progressed nicely not too fast but not over detailed, but just right.

Good story
I'm really enjoying this story, and the circumstances behind the bit of SAO trapped in the machine are believable. The MC does make some annoying choices, but it moves the story along and usually fits the narrative. What I do see as a negative is that our MC is introduced as one of the most advanced players in the game, yet constantly acts like an indecisive newbie.

Good story
I'm not usually a fan of VR litrpg, but this book does a creadable job, more than workman like. Looking forward to the next in the series. Tom out

Loved it
I first found LitRPG with System Apocalypse. This book is a twist on the typical LitRPG, the character is a monster. Love it, Great read!

Owen, is high-level adventurer who made his fortune inventing spells and has gotten used to the good life, basically as the CEO of a in-game corporation with tons of lackeys and underlings to do the hard work, and the most powerful guy around. And then he gets backstabbed by the underling he trusted the most - transformed into a goblin, a cannon fodder mob, and murdered to respawn in a lousy goblin-filled cave in the wilderness with none of his equipment or spells. Out of the game, he decides to risk staying as a goblin despite the fact that it was never designed as a player race and the bugs he uncovers might fry his brain, because it represents a unique chance to get his revenge. The book's crunchier than a bowl of Grape Nuts, with Owen checking his stats constantly (I could do with less of that) and most of it emphasizes strategy as he tries to build his clan of weak, kinda dumb goblins into a town with a decent fighting force. He receives a great deal of help from "Vic", a virtual intelligence - a personality created by the game's AI to run NPCs who has a beef with his "dad" - and whose existence hints at a greater overreaching plot.Overall I quite enjoyed it & would recommend it. I liked the atypical choice of a goblin hero. It puts Owen at a terrible disadvantage and he has a long struggle ahead of him, even when he's at his highest point he's got to dig deep and fight hard for success. And he hasn't even yet made it back to the human lands, where he's likely to be killed on sight! There's a good balance of crafting and battle as he progresses, and watching a town grow from the ground up is fun, especially if you like Civilization or SimCity type games. This is the first book and the sequel hasn't been published yet, but it ends after a satisfying battle, and the hints of shady stuff going on with the game company, the AI and their grievences, and of course Owen's revenge plot leave plenty of suspense for the next one, which I will definitely be picking up.A few crits. There are enough spelling/formatting errors to be noticeable, but not enough to really disrupt the read. Like I mentioned, there are a LOT of charts, not just Owen but the various goblins and their new town as it grows. Reading it on a little Kindle screen can get tiresome. There are also some unwarranted sexist and one rather racist remarks that add nothing to the story and could easily be excised. The main problem I found is that Owen's goblin love interest, his new clan's hunter, starts out interesting but then basically devolves into something to snuggle up with him in bed at night, they literally have almost no conversation beyond a certain point so it's hard to feel he honestly loves her enough to go on a roaring rampage of revenge at the end - he has much more involved interaction with the goblins' elderly, bad-tempered cook! But this is fairly typical of action-adventure type books so I doubt most readers would be bothered by it.

Great Read
First written and published on the royal road over several years. The novel already has over 100 reviews most of which are 5 star.New Era Online, NEO, is a full immersion virtual reality game. Oren Berman, an intelligent player got lucky early on in the game's release and discovered a new discipline, Mana Manipulation. Because of the way the game is setup, he has exclusive rights to it unless he chooses to teach it to others. Teaches others for real money. Makes $10K/month income. Quits normal job.He even forms a guild based on this school of magic. Heโs betrayed by student with scroll that kills the MC character and resets him as a level 1 monster in a far away place in the game.Oren wakes up as goblin. Uses his understanding of mana manipulation to get access to magic and explores caverns only to discover them already occupied by a goblin tribe. Now he has to not only convince this tribe to accept him as one of their own but formulate some plan to get his revenge on the people that betrayed him.---This is a great story. Youโll love it if you like community building or town building stories. The first 27% of the story is about Oren, the main character (MC), getting trapped as a goblin. Him figuring out that the goblins heโs been killing his entire gaming career, actually have culture and a tribal society that he can use to grow in power and get his revenge on those that wronged him. He does a bunch of quests that reveal how being an monster is different than being a player and thereโs a storyline about how the game company canโt just save him.--Slight Spoilers--From about the 27-82% mark of the story, itโs really all about community and town building. The MC founds his own goblin village and thereโs a bunch of new game mechanics that revolve around spawning new goblins, building structures, and balancing village resources to accomplish goals. Itโs all very interesting if you like games like Civilization, Warcraft, Starcraft, or Total War.There still personal power development for the main character and some combat scenes and an external threat from some hobgoblin tribes but for the most part in this section itโs about town building stuff. At about the 82% mark, the story shifts away from town building and thereโs a more standard narrative as the MC tries to save someone heโs come to care about and has to face off against the big bad villain.I had a great time reading this story but Iโm also a big fan of those resource management civilization games. If those kinds of games donโt appeal to you, youโll find the entire middle section of this story boring. There are tons of details about development trees and pages and pages of descriptions of building functions, specializations for goblins, class development, resource requirements, and more.Score: 8 out of 10.

A different point of view
A Fantastic book, I was not sure what to expect when I started reading but I took a chance and I am so glad I did. Once I started reading I could not stop until the book was finished and I was sad there was not more to read.Instead of the usual set up where a gamer is a gamer this one is from the monsters point of view and trying to survive.I liked that there is only the game and no real distractions of the real world and the main character is outside his comfort zone and very much at a disadvantage.I enjoyed the insight and detail of the world and how something is built from nothing. I thought the main character was a fool at the start and by the end I was happy for his success and sad at any misfortune. The pace of the book is good and the tables and other game information is helpful.I can't wait for the next book.

Good read for roleplayers
Oren is the guildmaster of the most popular and powerful guild in the fantasy world he plays in and in the real world he lives off the income he can make in the game - that is, until he is betrayed by his so-called friends, turned into a lowly goblin NPC and killed. He respawns far away from the world he has known. His ex friends are hoping he will delete his character and start over thereby granting them many perks but out of sheer stubborness Oren continues as the goblin, embarks on new adventures and finds himself going in directions that never occurred to him before and unexpectedly growing in power. This is a great story of the building of a character and of a settlement and well worth a read.

Great take on the LITRPG genre, first chapters a little heavy but really worth the read.
After a couple of pages, well chapter two, this book really took off. The first chapter was not as well written, in my view, though I did read alll the way through!Interesting ideas in living in a immersive world!Anyway once the story takes off and the book really develops the quality of the read increases dramatically. Detailed and insightful gaming world. Interesting operating systems etc and a character who is evolving.I really like the fact that some of the "DM" side of the logic is questioned and explains some gaming mechanics, which are interesting to explore.I like the fact that the character didn't go up 50 levels in five chapters with impossible boss kills and I like that the tweaks have advantages and disadvantages.Really good read and ready for the next in the series.

An interesting concept.
I found this to be a highly enjoyable book. He fights against it so hard and it is somewhat predictable at times. Yet the difference in pacing, the city builder element as well as the character growths made it a very enjoyable book. I will be very interested to see where it goes from here. Shame it more movie than gaming references but still very fun!
