Solid extreme shoes they survive Iraq summers!
This is my 4Th pair now?! I work in the Middle East, it's Hot, ground you can cook steak and eggs on.Most shoes melt, I have seen combat boots melt. The breathable design, fast slip on and the bungee lace is awesome all around. I hike with them, carry 140 lbs of gear in the most extreme conditions and they still keep up.

Perfect; directly fromt the box to hiking; great price.
Excellent product. I took these shoes directly from the box and hiked the same day 10 miles in the hills of Vermont. No issues, no blisters, comfortable, I kept the manufacture's insole and they're great. Color of shoe is exactly as pictured. Other have said that they received this shoe with loose threads, not my experience, I found no issues with this show whatsoever. Rubber sole is sturdy, great traction on any surface, rocks, gravel, dirt, concrete. I am preparing to hike the AT from Maine to Connecticut, have been wearing this show every day since I received them in the mail, and they're great; no issues with blisters, no hot or sore spots inside, they clean easy (warm soapy water and they look like new again). Shoe laces are perfect length. I've purchased other show products and they have very long laces; these are just right. I purchased these shows for summer hiking; they provide lots of ventilation and yet not too bad in colder temperatures; I wouldn't wear these in ice or snow however. I forded through a river, they were soaked through and through and dried quickly, insole did not curl.I wear a size 15 and these fit perfectly right out of the box; no break-in required.I would purchase these again and I would purchase these shoes as a gift.

Very uncomfortable
Summary: these shoes are not comfortable.I've had lots of Merrell shoes and I REALLY wanted to like these shoes but... after I wear them for a few hours they make my feet hurt. They fit well and don't rub, so that's not the problem. I suspect it's because there's very little support in them or the footbed is wonky or ??. I tried to fix that by putting some high end arch supports or insoles in the shoes and they are still no bueno. Since purchasing I've read some reviews written by backpackers and hikers, and it turns out the my experience is not that unusual.I'll switch back to La Sportiva shoes or maybe find a different Merrell shoe, but for sure I won't buy these again.3/1/20 UPDATE: I'm still blown away with how uncomfortable these shoes are. I don't understand what about them makes them so god-awful uncomfortable, but after an hour or two they just make my feet hurt. I may see if I can return them, or I'll toss them in the trash.

Love the treads but the uppers don't seem very sturdy...
I got the gray ones with blue laces but I returned them because I didn't think these shoes would last very long for me. I hike every day and wear my hiking shoes out pretty fast, usually within 3-6 months, so I've gone through A LOT of hiking shoes. Considering the price, I guess I was pretty disappointed with the quality of these shoes.I DO really like the treads on them (the treads are almost always the first thing to wear out on my hiking shoes) because I can tell these treads would take longer than usual for me to wear down. Considering how thick the treads are, this shoe still feels light and comfortable, and they still feel almost minimalist, which is nice. Anyways, it's not uncommon for me to eventually wear holes all the way through my hiking shoes but I suspect that the uppers on these would give out way before that happened. The uppers were the reason I returned these shoes. They've got a very loose feeling to them because the lacing spans nearly the whole upper part of the shoe (it's WAY wider than I'm used to) so it felt like I was relying entirely on those laces to keep the shoe together. I didn't trust the laces not to eventually break (they're not reinforced; they're mostly just canvas loops). I could also see all the areas where the bottom of the shoe was glued to the uppers, and I didn't trust that to last very long either. It's exactly how my last pair of Merrells died; the uppers got a small tear in the seam and before I knew it the whole side tore right off the shoe. Those shoes were less than half the price of this pair so I assumed these would be much better quality when I ordered (YMMV, but I returned them because they didn't SEEM like it to me).It also seems worth mentioning that these shoes didn't look much like the pictures once they were on my feet. The tongue is stuffed like a pillow or plush toy (it was weird), and the top sides and heel felt plushy too (I'd rather it be a little more structured and supportive). This technically makes them comfortable, but it sort of looked and felt like I was wearing stuffed slippers on my feet, which isn't what I want for a hiking shoe. I think these would probably be fine if you're just a casual hiker, but I'm not sure how long they'd stand up to serious every day use. It's the kind of fabric that will get pretty smelly and dirty (despite the ventilation they provide) and they definitely aren't gonna be good in wet weather, so keep that in mind too.

Definitely a lower end product from Merrell.
I bought these to succeed my worn out old Moabs, after finding that the Moab 2 was very uncomfortable owing to a weirdly design arch support on the insole. The Yokota 2 is definitely a step down from my old Moabs. Mine feel like they are a wider fit, or perhaps they are just less rigid so my foot feels like it can slide around more, either way it is not great and I would hesitate to go hiking in them. The footbed also feels thin, so I can feel irregularities in the ground more, and on flat surfaces it feels like I can maybe even feel the tread itself, again not a good thing in a hiking shoe. Luckily I have other shoes for real hiking, as these are really just casual shoes more akin to a rugged-looking sneaker.

5th pair and go-to shoe... comfortable, durable and highly functional
Great product and value! I jump between these and the slightly more robust and heavier Moeb models, but they are always my go-to shoe; none other are more comfortable and versatile. Style is a matter of taste, but otherwise there's little not to like. Durability is great and usually last me 2+ years of frequent and heavy use and abuse. Note: soles are softer rubber for traction and grip, so they will eventually wear out, but that's not really a negative, just reality.Fit is spot-on with Canadian/US men's needs and std. sizing... definitely NOT Asian fit😊

Excellent Hiking Shoe But Fits Large ... Order 1/2 Smaller than Usual
I have two pair of the Yokota Mid cut hiking shoes and wanted a pair of low cuts, when these went on sale for $65 I snatched them up, only problem they fit larger than my previous Yokota Mids that were 3 years old.Overall this shoe is excellent. Good quality, excellent built, nice support and comfortable. I tried to re-order a smaller size however the price had gone up and doubled to over $120. At $65 these shoes are a great value and I would highly recommend them. At $139 I'm not so excited about them and would pass.My advice is to wait for them to go on sale and then grab a pair when you can. As mentioned these tend to 'Fit Large' so I would recommend ordering a half size smaller than usual.

Big Feets
Wear 14, rarely size 13 normal width shoes, ordered 14, fit well.Lighter and not quite as heavy duty as my leather MOAB's, sole cushioning is not quite as good as MOAB's, but still a good light hiking shoe. Also nice, the neoprene like lining is wrap around at back of heel. No seam at back of heal like with MOAB which is where they wear out over time.

Wore out quickly
Shoes were comfortable at first but wore out very quickly. I spend a lot of time on my feet in a day, well over 20k steps per day. Within 2 weeks the shoes felt wore out and made my feet sore.
