5.5-Inch Set Back CMC Manual Power-Lift Transom Jack Plate 65012

My order arrived just 5 days after placing it, which was very nice. I installed it on my 1995 Ranger 363V with a Mercury 150 XR6. I used the upper mounting holes on the transom side because the lower holes caused the plate to overlap the trim that runs along the top of the transom. I wasn't comfortable with not having flush contact between the plate and the transom. I used a little marine seal (3M 5200) around each hole...I don't plan on removing the plate...ever. In order to get the motor high enough to put the center of the prop shaft about four inches below the keel I had to use the 2nd to highest mounting holes on the motor side of the plate, and the 2nd to lowest mounting holes on the motor, and adjust the plate nearly all the way up. The transom on this hull slants backward 70 to 80 degrees, which would lower the motor considerably if I mounted the plate and motor straight off, not raising everything.I took the boat out this weekend for testing, and a little fishing. Holy Smoke! The boat nearly jumps out of the water when I slam the throttle to get up on plane. This model Ranger is 17'10", but it's a heavy hull. I hit 62MPH into the wind, an got there quickly, before I had to back off due to serious brain-freeze (it's January), and that's with over 26 gallons of fuel on-board. I figure that this is a gain of 4-6MPH, more than most might expect but I think the hull design is a determining factor. The boat rides a couple inches higher out of the water on plane as well, and the steering is so much more responsive, and with less resistance. And, it cuts through chop and wakes much better than before. I'm very, very happy with this Jack Plate!

I installed on a Carolina skiff 18JVX 60hp evenrude. which I know is already a skinny running boat but I wanted more of course. Really didn't do much. To get on plane you have to lower the plate to where the motor was originally. It doesn't get on plane any faster, but it did pick up about 2mph on top speed. The product is well built, mechanically works fine, easy to install fit perfect, but just isn't worth it on my application in my opinion.

Excellent tough product...I wish I'd bought one that set back a bit farther..easy to adjust on water ( as long as it's not all the way down). I was able to adjust my motor perfect ..I will use it a lot for duck hunting raising it to go shallow
