looks outstanding
this game looks to be the one for f1 racing games. it doesnt use conventional platform by just racing to win the championship, you actually race the races that are happening real time over a four season period. this creates new goals in order to be the best and beat the real leader of the championship. you also get to plan out your tactics and team positions such as who gets the t-car and who gets to pit first. including the all new changes to f1 including the great qualifying procedure.this is one hell of a cracking game

EA Games F1 Challenger
I recently bought a copy of EA Game's F1 Career Challenge. I must say that it is a very genious game, a very good idea to make an F1 sim with four seasons. The graphics are pretty detailed right down to marks on the car when you have a comming together with another car. The only draw back with the game is that it has really pathetic handling. The steering is way too sharp. BUY THIS GAME IF YOU ARE AN F1 FAN!

F1 for the casuals
While the general idea behind this game is superb, the execution is a bit wayward. The short races (with no option to extend them) in the Career mode are a big disappointment as I prefer the full length races. The handling is also slightly twitchy. It's a shame that EA never got to build on this concept as the results may have been spectacular, but, despite the faults, this game is decent value and worth a punt.

Absolutely superb.
Quite frankly, THE best F1 game out there. Anyone who says different just can't get to grips with the controls, or has very little patience*. Driving the cars is a tad twitchy, but what do you expect from an F1 car averaging F1 speeds? When I first started playing the game, I was happy to finish the races. Now, I'm three points clear of the second-placed driver in the World Championships. The players who like this game appreciate that it's not easy, even when you've played it for a long time. Those who don't like it clearly want something they can do from the moment they turn on their console. Shame on them.* Or children.

Good but could be better
Once again EA have produced a good F1 game but is let down with some bad mistakes. The worst mistake is the incredibly stupid handling. Even with a steering wheel its still very hard to steer the car so you have to get used to the analog controller. Second is the AI. In F1 2001 the cars seem to think your invisible and smash into you even if you defend your racing line and if you hit the computer, you will always come off second best. In this game its the complete opposite. The cars will try to not hit you at all costs so when you overtake them, they will dart to one side of the track to avoid you. They rarely try to overtake you and if they try to, they will dart of to one side of the track and often end up in the gravel. One when I was exiting the pit lane in Monaco and Iwas on the other side of the track and one of the cars trying to overtake me darted of the track yet again but there are no grass or gravel in Monaco so he hit the wall and spun off. If you accidently tap the car in front they will slam on the brakes and stay still in the middle of the track the 10 seconds later start again! On the plus side the cars are very realistic different cars are actually faster and slower than each other. For Example, at silverstone in 1999 I put my mclaren on pole with ease but in the Minardi I could only manage 18th. This is probably the first game I could not win a race in a Minardi! They have recreated the tracks rather well too. They even had the old monza chicane in 99 and then the new Hockemheim circiut in 02 but they forgot to add the section at the start of the nurburgring in 02. If your an F1 foan like me you will know they changed the first sector with a few extra corners. Not that anyone cares about this small mistake but they also changed the pitlane exit in Montreal in 02 but they havent in the game. Also they didnt add the new pit entrance in Spa in 02 but Im sure that no one really cares about pitlanes. EA have also done a very good job in adding every single driver who raced in 99-02 even Sarrazin who raced once in the 99 Brazillian grand prix. It would also be nice to toggle options such as weather, damaged as you car is almost indestructible. They could of been a bit more variety in the career choice.Overall this is a good, solid F1 game if you can be botherd to spend hours getting used to the steering. The idea of this game is fantastic but is let down by some issues. If you think spending an extra 50 quid on a steering wheel dont bother, its easier with the analog controller. Trust me!

Fun Factor 5
While the F1 games I find have became increasingly stale with each creation being almost identicle to the last, I bought this game as my last hope for a decent F1 game on the PS2...thank God I did!The main selling point is its season career mode. After passing some basic challenges you'll get a mid range team to drive for with an oppertunity to change teams at half way points in every season. The game itself leans more to the arcade side, but with all the purks of being a simulator too. Each race is 10% of a full one, and you must include a pitstop. The result is frantic chaos from start to finish and you'll love every minute of it!For those of us who like our sim modes, the single race options give you fully customisable options so you can make the game as easy or as hard as you wish. Also, posibly the biggest plus for me is that the game does not use horrible pressure sensitive controls that hurt your hands! The best F1 racer yet on PS2!
