A MUST for all teachers of writing
This is a highly readable book, jam-packed with super ideas. Jane combines relevant research with up-to-date pedagogy and a dollop of common sense and serves it all up in an engaging style. Her practice in the classroom is superb and this knowledge of 'what works' makes this book an essential for teachers who wish to get the very best writing outcomes from children.Using Jane's easy-to-follow guidance, children and teachers will be engaged in the writing process. This is a great read. Yes, it's nearly £30 and you might be debating whether or not to pay thirty quid (probably of your own money and not your school's!). Just ask yourself if you would ever get top quality training for just £30. You wouldn't would you? So, buy the book - top quality training in your own classroom that you can come back to time and time again. Money well spent!

Fantastic book, I couldn't live without it!
This book has completely changed they way I plan my English lessons. Before I was uninspired by the planning process and was often disappointed with the work it produced. Breaking the writing process into sentences has allowed my pupils to produce imaginative and well thought out pieces of writing which impress me regularly. The book is beautifully printed and clear to read with lots of pictures, diagrams and examples. It is now my go to book when planning English units of work. The accompanying website is also very useful with lots of free resources for across the curriculum.

The Write Stuff is well worth reading even for experienced primary teachers. It outlines a clearly explained, logical way of planning, delivering and assessing English. The book is not error free - there is the occasional typo - but these do not detract from the force or clarity of the message. Much of what is set out may not be new to teachers. We know that modelling writing is important as is vocalising the writer's internal monologue as part of shared writing. However, the author sets out a useful framework and stresses the need to be focussed on sentence-level writing. Overall, highly recommended.@yorks99no

Could be the answer to the KS2 writing expectations.
Reading this book is quite a commitment, hence leaving it until the summer. However, it is well organised, very readable and very practical. I like the way that everything suggested is based on research and I can definitely see how the approach described would support the least confident writers. I am looking forward to adopting this new approach to writing with my year 6 class in September.

Fantastic yet simple
Saw this book recommended on Twitter so thought I'd give it a go. It's fantastic- really simple ideas and laid out in a very easy to access manner. I'm going to be sharing the ideas in this book with all of our KS2 staff as writing is a priority for us. Thanks for a brilliant resource!

tweak practise to transform results
A really interesting approach to teaching writing that really only takes a few tweaks to transform the impact .It fits really well with other current methodologies. I love the layout and the summaries. The CPD sections are particularly helpful as they support my leadership of the school as literacy coordinator. I'm glad I spotted this before the new academic year begins!

Great book, not packed with care!
The book itself is wonderful... the battered state it arrived in from amazon was not what I was expecting!!

A brilliant book
This book is brilliant. Using the ideas for only a few days has already inspired the children to write in a more creative way. The better writers have composed some amazing paragraphs and the children who struggle to write are able to write with more confidence.
