Hinkley Miley Collection Contemporary Modern Four Light 240W G9 Bathroom Vanity Fixture, Chrome

Once installed the fixture looks nice and works well, but getting to the stage of flipping the switch was NOT fun. My fixture was intended to replace an older light. The old light used a single outlet sized electrical box but this new Hinkley light required a much larger box. First I had to tear out the existing box - which was a challenge since this was original to the house and nailed to a stud. I then had to put in an old work light fixture box.I did check to see if there was any way to make the original electrical box work but to no avail. The reason why I could not use a single sized box was because this light requires a light fixture strap which has an attached rotating strap. You cannot mount these aligned over each other (at least not with the mounting screws that are included). Unfortunately, not only did I need new fixture boxes, I also need to get new fixture straps because the ones included with the light rotated too freely. The ones I got from Home Depot were much more secure and would not rotate so easily. Once I got the wires hooked up and pushed back into the box (I now had fixture straps forming a cross and the openings were narrow). Everything got pushed in and the fixture was finally mounted on the two protruding screws. Oops, one was too long, so take everything down and adjust the mounting screws. Push everything back in the electrical box and try again. Now I had to tighten with these little small round ball screw caps. These are difficult to get going and hard to tighten but they must be tight if you want to keep the fixture secure on the wall without it flopping around.So, now you have to assemble the light globes. It would help to have an anorexic European model with extremely small hands to assist you as you have to rotate a nut, using a special tool, onto the light socket. Once that is done you get to push down the light bulb and then screw on another small dome over the light bulb.If you get it all together, it does look nice but more than once I wished I was installing something much easier and which did not require multiple trips to the hardware store. It would have been much easier if the company had simply used a threaded rod that many fixtures use and which uses a large easy to use knurled cap.

Not only did the original item arrive quickly - but then I accidentally broke one of the glass shades. I contacted the vendor and explained my situation. They replaced the broken shade as quickly as the sent the original. I cannot say enough nice things about this vendor. Dealing with a company that values customer relations is so very rare in this day; I can only conclude by saying that I am now a loyal customer.

I had all the problems the previous writer had plus I installed the fixture with the lights down which was no easy task because the washer is heavy and I was working against gravity. I finally came up with using a magnet to keep it in place while I screwed on the socket ring. At the last step of the process, I broke the threaded glass shield because threading was difficult at the angle I was working. Its also very thin glass. The fixture is attractive, but design does not lend itself to easy installation.

I ordered these lights for our bathroom renovation and they are really lovely. However, when we held them up beside our gigantic medicine cabinet, they seemed much too small. I think they would be ideal in a small space or beside a small mirror or medicine cabinet. We had also positioned our j-boxes to high for an uplight and so have to find a downlight sconce to use.

Nice lamps, great customer service. One had a damaged bulb cover, but was still usable. Hinkley proved a replacement in 48 hours. We are well pleased.
