They work great as intended. I like the longer pliers keeps fingers safer away from teeth. Has grippy grooves, line cutter, and a couple hook slots. Plus hook hole.

This was the best pair of pliers I ever bought

I've used them for several years now on my fishing kayak. No complaints. They'd probably rust if you didn't rinse them off around salt water.

Update: Just returning from a Gulf offshore fishing trip I can confirm that the pliers worked well with very large hooks in fish like big grouper and amberjack. However, they rust with exposure to salt, and the hinge becomes very stiff if not oiled regularly. Both of those issues did not hamper using them, but be aware so you can decide appropriately Initial review: I have had a lot of fishing pliers over the decades. Some fairly expensive. What I like about these cheaper pliers is that they get the job done for taking hooks out of bluegills all the way up to big red snappers. You see the pliers here next to an orange handled pair of standard long nosed pliers I have used for many years. The new ones are longer and thinner with a beak that will not slip off a hook. They are also spring loaded but don’t spread the handle out too far so you can still grab and use the pliers with one hand. They do have a line cutter, and it works fine with mono. Worthless with braid. But who buys a cheap pliers thinking they are getting a great line cutter too? Even with good pliers a dedicated line cutter is more convenient. In fairness I have only used these for a dozen freshwater fishing trips but the results have been good. If you are pulling very large hooks out of grouper mouths etc a larger pliers may be needed. Can’t say for sure. But for the great share of fishing where extracting hooks neatly with minimum damage these pliers are worth considering.

It worth the money to get one of these tools while you go fishing it can be clip on your bags or wherever you like to clip so that it’s close to you so you won’t get hooked in the finger or cause you any injuries

Coolest tool ever for my Fisher Man, he loves it!

These worked well and the lanyard is nice. But they do rust with just a little use on the water and needed constant attention to keep the rust at bay and the hinge working. Decent for the money but need to keep them well oiled for ease of use.
