Henna Love
I've been using this brand for about 6 years now. Always consistent and always great color. Love the product. 1. You don't date henna you MARRY it. Be prepared to be a redhead until the color grows out of your hair. That's a plus #1 for we natural redheads who aren't ready to go white or want to enhance our own natural color. Plus #2 is that it's doesn't fade like boxed dyes. Henna red stays henna red unless you go out in the sun alot and then it sun bleaches just like your natural color. Gorgeous. 2. This is NOT hard. It's intimidating until you try it, but it's not hard. Don't feel that you have to add tons of other things to your mix. Filtered water and a little raw honey is all you need. Mix until it's the consistency of yogurt, not mud. You want a product that will apply easily, stick but not run off your head. Add a little at a time until you get that consistency. 3. Make your mix and then let the mixture sit, covered, for about 8-12 hours. That should give you a good dye release. I've heard that using hot water will give a faster dye release but I don't have experience with that. I use room temperature water. 4. Use a hair dye brush to apply the dye and section your hair if you can. This technique works especially well if you are just doing a root touch up. Plus #3 you only have to dye your roots to keep your lovely color. Enjoy that red for the next few years depending on how short your hair is and how fast it grows because henna doesn't fade or wash out. I've gone as long as 3 years before I did my whole head again and that was because of the sun lightening my hair so much. Note: if you don't have help and can't section your hair, then squishing it in all over will suffice. Just try to make sure you have all your roots or roots and length well covered. 5. Keep a misting bottle handy. Henna works best if it stays moist. If you have a lot of thick, long hair you may appreciate that misting bottle. 6. Plastic film wrap. Mist one last time and wrap your head well with the wrap. Then I cover that with a plastic shower cap. The product that dries will flake off onto anything around you. Another reason to keep it moist. 7. I leave my henna on for at least 2 hours. I prefer to leave it for 3. I do NOT sleep in it as it will just dry out and if the cap slips it will be all over your bed. 8. If your henna stinks then something is wrong. Maybe what you mixed it with, apple cider vinegar makes it smell horrible. Henna and water should smell very similar to fresh hay. Not offensive, not overpowering. 9. You can add Amla powder if you have curly hair and I DO advise that. Henna can relax curl for some people. It did for me. Amla brought it back and is a wonderful conditioner. 3 parts henna to 1 part amla is all you need. 10. Rinse well. The water should look greenish brown. Rinse twice or three times. Then liberally apply a good natural conditioner and 'condition' wash your hair. Let your hair soak it up and set for a few minutes before a final rinse. My hair is always super nice after I do my Henna/Amla application and will stay that way for up to 5 days after. 11. If you are using pure henna, which is what Henna Guys sell, then you will have a lovely coppery red that will oxidize just a bit darker. If you want a darker red reapply the same way in a few days. Henna on top of henna goes darker. Good luck, have fun and enjoy your Henna Guys gorgeous ginger hair.

Super fun! Super effective!
The quality and results of henna are truly remarkable. I am particularly fond of the deep copper red hue that it imparts to the hair. Unlike conventional hair dyes that can cause significant damage, henna offers a natural alternative that is gentle on the hair. I have personally experienced the benefits of henna and have become an ardent user. It is important to note that henna can be messy. However, this can be easily managed by keeping the hair flipped over in the bathtub during the application process. For optimal results, I suggest letting the henna sit (in the bowl after mixing) for four to six hours. Thorough application is crucial, ensuring the roots are covered first, as it becomes more challenging once the ends are bunched together. To preserve the henna's efficacy, I recommend placing it in a plastic bag and covering it with a beanie to retain heat and prevent drying. In my case, I left the henna on for three hours before rinsing with cool water. I also applied henna to my eyebrows simultaneously. I purchased a 300-gram pouch of pure henna. I mixed approximately 60-70 grams (suitable for collarbone-length hair) with two tablespoons of Brahmi powder (for added moisture), two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, and sufficient freshly brewed black tea to achieve a yogurt-like consistency. The mixture was then covered with plastic bag and a hand towel to maintain moisture.

Do Your Research to get the most out of Henna!
I am VERY happy with this. I did a round of henna cured at room temp with lemon juice and some essential oils and a splash of apple cider vinegar for 8 hours then left it on for 2.5 hours first round. It came out more orange than I wanted. I did another round the next day but cured the dye with 2.5tbsp of amla powder overnight. I left it on for roughly 3 hours and the color was closer to what I wanted. Coppery red but not too brassy. Keep in mind that the Henna color will continue to darken and deepen over the course of a week or two. I provided photos of my grey and medium-dark brown hair before, after the first round and after the 2nd round inside lighting and outside. The color is vibrant and my hair feels thicker, soft and shiny. Good quality powder! I love it.

Great Quality Henna Powder – Leaves Hair Shiny and Healthy!
I’ve been using this henna powder for over 5 years now, and it’s still my go-to! I have dark brown hair, and this henna gives it a gorgeous red hue that’s subtle but vibrant, definitely more noticeable in the light. My hair always looks so much shinier and healthier after using it, with a smooth, natural shine that’s hard to beat. The texture is silky, making it super easy to apply, and the 400-gram package lasts a long time, so it’s great value. As for how long the color lasts, it definitely holds up for more than 3 weeks for me. It doesn’t fade like boxed dyes, but since my hair grows out, I need to reapply to cover my roots and keep the color looking fresh. After 5+ years of using it, I’m still in love with the results and will continue using it. If you want a beautiful red hue with extra shine and healthier hair, I highly recommend it!

Good henna, bad instructions
The henna seemed to dye my hair well but I did not follow the instructions on the package. I imagine anyone who said it didn't work or didn't work very well wasted their henna following the package instructions (the company's fault--not theirs!). The instructions on the back of the outer package say to mix with warm tap water and then go ahead and start applying. I instructions that came on a separate piece of paper still said to mix with water but wait an hour or two before applying. Two separate sets of instructions but I don't think either got it right. Henna needs something acidic to bring out its dye. I used to mix lemon juice and water (plus a variety of other things: tea, cloves, etc) in and then realized the water was unnecessary and just diluted the dye. I've found the best mix is the simplest: just add lemon juice to the powder until you get that well-blended mashed potato consistency. I think some other people use apple cider vinegar which I've never tried but I imagine works also. It just has to be acidic. Then you need to let the dye sit for a long time. Heat moves things along so in a really warm environment (out in the sun during Texas summer for example) 1 to 2 hours might be enough but I generally just mix it up the evening before and apply the next day. A trick I learned early on was to put the mix in a ziplock bag and put it on a paper towel. When the paper towel starts getting an orange stain on it then your dye is released and you're ready to go. There's also a noticeable earthy henna smell when it's ready. Once applied I always wait about 3 hours before rinsing. The directions say to rinse in cold water not to shampoo for a few days which, again, I used to do but you know where that extra dye ended up? On my clothes, bedding, etc. Now I use warm water (because cold showers are no fun) and just go ahead and shampoo once I've gotten out as much as I can by hand and I end up with the same level of red as before. Maybe a little more sticks if you wait a couple days before shampooing but I've never noticed a difference and worrying about everything else in my house getting dyed isn't worth it to me. I have some grey hairs mixed in my hair which is most obvious from the top. Unfortunately I forgot to take a top view before picture so I found an old picture from before I was henna-ing my hair regularly of my natural color--kind of dull, boring brown. The post-dye pictures are from the top and you can tell which hairs were grey based on their brightness. So it does cover the grey in a fun, bright, highlight kind of way. I love how it does that. :) It also makes those grey hairs, which tend to be kind of dry and have a life of their own, more soft and manageable. As you can see in the day after picture the top inch or two (where my hair had grown out from my last henna-ing) has that orangeness to it and then after 5 days it's settled down to more of a reddish but still with those little grey-to-lighter-red highlights. And of course I took these pictures in the sun which shows it at it shiniest. :) One other note on this particular henna: The listing says that none of their henna is more than a year old. The package I ordered in March 2016 says packaged November 2014. Try a year and four months, guys! But it still worked so there ya go.

Pleased With This Henna Purchase!
I have heard great things about The Henna Guys. So, I purchased this Henna from The Henna Guys for a much better price than on their actual Henna Site (thank you, Amazon!). The henna is fresh and didn’t darken too much on my hair which is a sign it is, indeed, good quality! I have long hair and got a beautiful reddish tinge (best seen in the light) on my medium brown hair. I am so happy my hair did not come out looking brassy, too red, too dark, or anything other than a lovely enhancement to my natural color without anything too radical. I can always redo my hair with this henna if I desire more red. Excellent product and price!

Dark brown hair plus pure red henna = gorgeous deep red!
I'm a first time henna user. I have dark brown hair naturally but I have been coloring with traditional hair color for years. I had some coppery highlights and lots of gray roots. I originally planned to use a henna/indigo mix but in the end I wanted it more red than brown, so I ordered this pure henna. I have very thick, medium length hair. I ordered 300 grams and mixed up about 150 with black tea and Bragg raw organic apple cider vinegar. I let it cure for 10 hours before applying. Then I ran out of the mix about 2/3 of the way through so I mixed up another batch and applied right away. I see no difference in color or how well it took so next time I won't wait for the mix to cure before applying. I left it on for five hours, then rinsed without using shampoo. I missed a lot of areas since I couldn't see the back of my head, so I did a second application later that day and only left it on for two hours. Again, rinsed without shampoo and just used conditioner on the length of my hair. I absolutely love it! Yes, the gray is a bit on the orangey side right now but I'm told it takes a few days to oxide and the color will deepen. And each application after this will also deepen the color. I'm really happy with the quality of the henna, the price was terrific, and of course Prime shipping means no waiting over a week for it to arrive like with other companies. (I had ordered a henna/indigo blend from someone else on the 20th and it didn't arrive till the 29th. Seriously? It takes 9 days to go from TX to SC? I got tired of waiting and ordered the Henna Guys henna instead. Glad I did!)

great value and works well!
My hair has to grayed quite a bit, and I started by getting it dyed at a salon, but that was getting pricey for me. I turned to box dyes, but that isn't very healthy for your hair. So along came henna. I have dark brown to black hair, so I was very aware that I wasn't going to get a match without indigo, but I wasn't looking to dye my hair as much as just make my gray a little less conspicuous. Henna was great! My dark brown/black hair has an orangish/brownish tint to it, but only seen in the sunlight. My grays turned reddish/orange. I typically mix with some freshly cooled coffee and let develop overnight. I apply it in the morning, and since I work from home, I just let it do its work while I go about my day. As per most instructions, I only use conditioner after washing out all the henna on the first day. Then, in a day or two, I'll wash my hair with shampoo and condition. I've been told it continues to develop even after you wash it out, but I honestly don't see much of a difference. I just hope that the extra day or two before shampooing will, at least, make the color last longer. I process my hair enough without coloring that I wanted a more natural way of covering grays, and this works for me. I've been back and forth between salon, box dyes and henna, but I think I'll stick with henna now. It just feels more organic to me, and my hair doesn't have to suffer as much.
