I bought this to add a little crunch to my bass from time to time. If you dial this little thing in right it sounds pretty good....

This is (allegedly) a copy of a Boss DS-1 with Keeley Ultra Mod. It sounds like a DS-1, does what it’s supposed to do and does it well. Well built, no problem. A no-brainer for the price.But, this pedal WILL reveal if you’re not using a VERY clean power supply like from Voodoo Lab. Even my One Spot wasn’t going to cut it.With a clean power supply, noise from this pedal is as low as can be expected from any high gain device, not excessive at all, which is great. Very usable.

It's distortion but I feel like its a bit muddy

Easy to dial in. Found my sweet spot quick. Has a little hum. I moved it around in the chain, but it's still there. Not a deal breaker for me. I'm not a pro. I'm also not using a gate. A nice, inexpensive option before spending the big bucks on a Ts9, etc..

It's a Boss DS-1 with the keeley mods. Construction is pretty much identical to the mooer / donner pedals. I'm pretty sure this is the mooer ultra drive w/ different graphics. Got mine for a little over $15 w/ tax, but wouldn't pay much more than $20, since used DS-1's are cheap and abundant.

As an "experimental/noise anti-musician artist", I love manipulating the effect pedals to create different sounds! I picked up this pedal on a whim as it received over "4 stars". When I hooked it up to my mixer and other effect pedals (24 total, including this one) and started creating the cacophony, it was some of the most beautifully excruciating sounds conjured! :-)The three different setting of distortion goes from subtle, layered feedback to explosive, in-your-face noise! When coupled with a looper, delay, and vibrato pedals, it creates de facto beats without actually using a synthesizer, drum machine, and/or a computer program for beats!I personally love this pedal and the damage it inflicts onto my experimental/noise anti-music! I highly recommend it for any experimental/noise artists out there to add to their powerful sound!

Wasn't really sure how well I'd like this being its a super budget pedal. Let me tell you though it exceeded my expectations as soon as I seen it.. Solid metal casing, tight pots/knobs, & when played next to my more expensive Distortion pedals, almost indistinguishable. The 3 different modes were very noticeably different! Little to no extra noise/fuzz in general. I've already recommended this to other musicians I know! Solid A- rating.
