Well made, Useful and Sturdy.
Let me start by saying....... I did not have all the problems that so many talked about. The item arrived and it was fine. The directions are simple and to the point. Not rocket science to put six parts together. The screw bolts fit perfectly and the basket fit like a glove. I did not have to man handle it or anything. A second set of hands to help hold the sides up while you get it started is a real help! If you think you are going to travel into the bush with it........then yeah, the back little wires may get tangled in the bush..... I personally have had no problems with that at all. The tail gate folds down and is very handy to use when you need some platform to use to change your chain saw blades or something like that. Yes the paint is a little light. It is not powder coated like bumpers. So Repaint it any color you want. If you want to match your ATV! Its gonna get beat up. It's a basket! All in all, I love the darn thing. Works great. Built descent! Does what it's supposed to do, and it didn't break the budget. ..........Update! Went to Lowe's and purchased zip ties in the electrical dept. The big black ones. They have a 175 lb. break strength. Used 6 ties on the rack. Works Great insted of the U bolts! Takes less time to set up and tear down when you want to go riding and don't need the rack on back. Use more if you feel the need, but the 6 worked great for me.

Very satisfied
Seems well built (although made in China). Went together very easy with a small impact driver. Assembled and installed in about an hour and fits my 2024 Honda Rubicon perfectly using the included small U bolts. The only cons that really didnโt matter enough to me to rate lower are: u bolts are bright zinc and should be black to match and the included Allen wrench was too small to fit the bolts. Overall, very happy with the purchase.

built tough
so i looked at the $120 and $150 baskets. Reviews weren't good on the first one, the second one covered the complete rear and would have made it hard to get to the battery should you need and i need to quite often as someone's always leaving the lights on or key turned on. It also didn't have the drop down tail gate which i wanted as i haul bee boxes, buckets, etc plus dogs. Let me say this thing is very well made. No sharp edges, probably took 30 minutes to install. You don't even need instructions. There's only a little over a dozen bolts to put it together. If u need instructions for this, you probably aren't smart enough to own a 4 wheeler to begin with. Was well packed, missing nothing as far as hardware, box was a little worse for wear, but that's the shippers fault. Very nice looking once installed. Fit my Honda Foreman like a glove. Was well worth the $180. I would recommend this to anyone. May not fit all brands but fits the honda foreman fine. You get what you pay for and this was definately worth what i paid

Good product.
The tubular design is good, smooth lines. 1rst the negatives. the rear portion did not line up exactly but with use of a bar clamp was able to get the last bolt in place for assembly. 2ndly, the gate when in the open position is not designed ( my opinion ) to hold more than 10-20 lbs. 3rd the mounting hardware leads much to be desired. I used black electrical zip ties to anchor the basket to my Bayou 300 which has the metal tubular racks. I found this basket to be very nice and fits my ATV perfectly. The basket holds a lot of items. Also is quiet, I couldn't hear any metal to metal rattling above the engine. Assembling & mounting took approximately 2 1/2 hrs in my case. All my friends who have seen it decided they need one too. I'm much satisfied, and am glad I chose this particular basket. For the design, construction, & price, I recommend this product without reservation. Also this vendor had a quick delivery of less than 2 wks.

Kolpin Rear Drop Basket 53300
Item arrived with rust on tailgate and a damaged spacer. After communicating with a Kolpin rep for several days, a replacement tailgate & new spacers were sent. Thank you Jim at Kolpin! Assembly is straightforward and is made easier by the fact an allan wrench is inlcuded. Correct alignment of the tailgate latch assembly is crucial as the pins have to slide into a small hole, after passing through a bracket on each side of the frame. This can be made easier with a ratchet tie down strap which is used to pull the frame together as it can be somewhat difficult to do this with just the allen wrench. Finally, flat washers should be used (not included) with the 4 u-bolts as the strap slot is rather large. The extruded metal basket appears sturdy, but only time will confirm that. As to the mounting process on ATV's, it was relativly easy on my King Quad, but will no doubt vary depending on model. I am able to remove the seat very easily, which some racks do not allow, thanks to the large cutout.

I expected more from Kolpin, but this will suffice...
The rack, itself, is a nice piece. The powder coating on it is, however, cheap; it chips easily, which will ultimately mean rust in the long run. At this price point, that's to be expected... The assembly process is fine if you're handy and/or a DIY type, but the instructions are lacking for a novice. What isn't for a novice, in my opinion, is the mounting mechanism. Don't expect to assemble and bolt this on in 20 minutes if you care about how it looks, whether people can get caught on the mounting hardware, etc. Ultimately the mounting hardware simply didn't provide support in the correct places for use on my 2011 King Quad 400 ASI, so I discarded the U-bolts that came with it, bought my own, and custom-fitted each one such that the mounts all rely on the rack's main tubing being mated to my King Quad's rear rack main tubing. It's just sturdier that way. I also took the time to mount the U bolts with the bottom of the U face-up, so that my rear rack can still be used for soft-sided things without worry of bolt heads tearing them. Tip: Get some 3/4" foam or rubber (I prefer foam) pipe insulation and fit it to your ATV's rear rack tubing in key places prior to mounting this rack. Doing so will reduce/eliminate metal-on-metal contact between this rack and your ATV's rear rack, preserving the finish of both, cutting down rust potential, and avoiding squeaks/clatter.

Two Thumbs Up!
Really impressed with the heavy-duty, rock-solid build. I installed this on my 2025 Rubicon, used entirely for farm work, and Iโm confident itโll endure years of tough use. I also got the matching front rack, and now my quad can carry a ton of tools and weight. My only gripe is the unhelpful installation instructions. I found it best to assemble all parts on a large, clean surface before mounting on the machine. There are also plenty of great YouTube videos on reviews and assembly that were super helpful. I plan on getting another working machine and will most definitely be buying this product again.

A bit short, for my Alterra 600 TRV, but well built.
Doesn't quite fit my Arctic Cat Alterra 600 TRV LTD. If it was made approximately 3-4 inches longer it would wrap around the seat nicely, but it doesn't. I can accept a 'one size fits almost' design, and I expected that when I bought it. In order to install it, without it rubbing against the back of the quad, you will need to slide it back even more (say 3/4"). With it hanging off the back of the quad, and limited leverage to hold it secure, using the factory storage racks on the quad, the weight capacity was limited. I made some plates, to sandwich the front onto the mounting rack on the quad, and this made it rock solid. Ok, that was the negative. The positive is this: It is practically bullet proof. Gasoline, Ammo cans, chainsaws, tow ropes, you can put almost anything in this. The heavy duty mesh construction is fantastic for fastening everything down with bungee cords, in every configuration. Never thought I would have a use for the drop down tailgate, but, I found a few needs for it already, A+ on that. I knocked off one star, simply for the length and fit on my Arctic Cat. Everything else was stellar.

Easy to follow instructions, works great.
Only owned it for a few weeks now but works great for carrying pails and baits for bear guiding. Kinda dont like the mount brackets that go through the screen instead of the main frame but we will see how long it lasts. If it fails will just need to get longer U bolts and mount to main frame. So far so good, works great.
