Not a Best choice
Second update. Product support window closed on December 21, 2024 I reached out with a request to Timberline on December 12, 2024. I never heard anything back so now I noticed that the productUpdate December 12, 2024, so I continued to wear the old ones as I didn’t want to get the new ones dirty. I only wore these out to stores and such, but I began warring wearing them now and the sole is already separating. my daughters Timberland newer ones as well. Also had a sole separate on them. I glued them back. I figured it was a fluke but the other one separated I’m glued it back. I’m going to glue these back, Simply I don’t want to lose my investment, but I would not buy Timberland again. Unless Timberland decides to read this and send me another pair as I am very disappointed hopefully others are not having the same experience. I have worn Timberland for years the last pair I bought was around 2016 so I got about 8 years out of it. I don’t wear them every day I wear them hiking and working in the yard and hunting and things like that but they’ve always been very good at waterproofing, traction and top notch in comfort. I was just gonna get another pair of timberlands. I ordered them from Academy. I always wear eight they were too narrow read the reviews on Amazon, others complain about them being narrow so I purchased an eight. Yes they are narrow compared to my others. I also got a Nortiv8 and Columbia MR something. Timberland size 8 1/2 now fits me like 8 used to and I haven’t grown. Timberland compared to the Columbia and the Nortiv8. There was a huge difference the Columbia newton ridge while it had had 27,000 reviews and most of them are good. they must’ve been paid for those reviews. because the shoes weren’t sturdy definitely not a hiking shoe. maybe a knock around the yard shoe but the soul is very soft hollow has air pockets in the show sole. you could push it in with your finger. so I can only imagine how weak it would be on sharp stones and in rough rocky terrain. it wouldn’t work well. The Nortiv8 looks and seems quite well made especially for the price of 50.00. But I was unsure of the waterproofing ability. The comfort, fit and thickness of the soul were much better than Colombia but we’re not up to where the Timberland quality. I kept the Timberland at $75 more than the Nortiv but they feel fit and wear so well and I’m confident in the waterproof ability as I’ve had them for 20+ years

Perfect
I spent a long time looking for the right boots and then finally decided to go for these ones. Read all the reviews, looked at the pros and cons and took he plunge. They are fantastic. They are so light that when the box arrived, I thought that there must have been a boot missing. They are comfy straight off, and despite what other people have posted, the quality of the boot is top notch. There are NO problems with the eyelets - they won't fray the THICK laces that came with the boots. There are NO problems with the innersoles - they are not cheap and thin. The boots are extremely warm and will keep you warm in the coldest of days and nights. The soles are fine. Some people have said that you can feel stones through them. Yes you can but it's not a big deal. What you can actually feel are the soles moulding around the stones. They are NOT digging into your foot as I was led to believe by some reviewers, you are merely aware that you have stepped on a stone - that's all - really not a problem at all - and you are only really aware of it when you are stepping on a pebble on a flat path, which is then makes the boot push around it. When walking on a very stony patch, you can't feel a thing. These soles are very similar to another pair of boots that I had that I used for about four years, both hiking and on a motorbike and the lasted for an extremely long time. You won't have a problem. The major thing I would recommend is that you go for half a size bigger. I'm normally a UK 12 but I got the UK 12.5 (US 13W) and I'm really pleased that I did. At this price range, especially with the major discount that are being offered (but even without the discount) you are getting an extremely good boot that will be perfect for all types of long walks and short walks. I wear them all the time because they are so comfortable. They look great, and I am very confident that they are going to last for long enough to make their price worth it. I'm really pleased that I went for them. EDIT:- I took them for their first test yesterday up to a skifield and wore them whenever I wasn't in ski boots. They were fantastic - I would not have known that I was walking upon snow if I couldn't see it. My feet were warm, completely dry and they felt great (especially compared to wearing the ski boots!). I also bought some nikwax leather and fabric proof to give extra waterproofing and I would definitely recommend this to add to your boots before you tke them anywhere - it should keep your boots extra safe for a lot longer.

These are an awesome replacement for previous brand boot
UPDATE: been a few more years, still wearing these. They last maybe 6-9 months, I’m a big guy and wear a single pair of these as the only shoes I wear 18 hours a day. Seriously. Then I replace them. Found this is the only way to go, different shoes make my bones hurt so I stick with a single pair of boots until worn out. My complaint is they are still hard to find, often out of stock in 12 wide in black. At around $100 per pair, about 1/2 the price of danners. And frankly not many boots are orthotic friendly including other Tim’s. I had been wearing the big "D" boots for years, in particular the striker series. They changed them, two more times from the original, and their last iteration was impossible to wear. Seriously, those boots is all I ever wore, work, home, beach, etc. Trying things like the popular "C" shoes, sneaks, etc. all gave my feet major problems even with orthotics. I'm as flat footed as they come, so this is always an issue and thus why I wear orthotics. Fast forward and I did a lot of research on boots. I had thought of trying a more common name in uniform boots, but wanted to try these because of the good reviews. These turned out to be an awesome find. I know that I was wearing an 11 EE in the big "D" and so I ordered the 11.5 EE (wide) in the Timberlands and that turned out to be a good idea. Their sizes run a tad small and definitely not as wide. Timberlands EE is more narrow than the big "D" EE. Since they don't make an even wider size, I'll make due. And the leather will surely stretch, it always does. The quality of these is amazing. They have a great build quality, seems to be very comfortable though I have just started wearing them today. They do accommodate an orthodic, but not as well as some other wide boots may. Either way I have been wearing them since USPS delivered today (SUNDAY) and they feel good. This is a first, never had a pair of shoes or boots that I could wear the whole day and not have aching feet. The only real problem I see is that this size is sold out everywhere. Even Amazon. I can only hope they are not discontinued, that would be awful and would have to start searching all over again for something that fits and works with my feet. I even tried a pair of Timberland White Ledge or something, 11 EE, and those are being returned. They are not wide enough, not long enough, and they cut down across the top of my foot no matter how loose I make them. My goal is just to buy enough of these to have on hand as the others wear, to go into a new pair. I figure a pair of boots, worn all day and night, might last 9 months-1 year, if I get more that is great. But a year is a good plan even per my foot doctor as they wear down over that year. If you like brown, or you can find these in your size, go for it. They are awesome boots and feel very comfortable, even on someone who has major foot issues with fit/comfort/etc. I've written to Timberland to see what their future plans are for this model. UPDATE: After about a week, my feet could not be happier. They are working out well. In fact, much better than my previous brand boot that I was wearing for 7-10 years. I would buy 2 new pairs of those other brand boots each year. I'd wear a pair to work, then come home and get changed, and wear the other. And after a year, they were both worn down pretty bad. I'd know because my knees would start hurting. So, I can only hope these hold up as well.....so far, so good. Bad part is these are on backorder until October, 2014 per Timberland. (in black)

Good shoes, slightly lacking in arch support
I like buying Timberland shoes because of their fit. For some reason their 11.5W shoes all fit my feet like a glove. I needed hiking boots for some hiking I was going to do in Yosemite and decided not to take any chances. It turned out to be a good choice because these boots are sized exactly like their regular shoes. If you like their regular shoes, these should fit just the same. The boots are incredibly comfortable. I only barely broke them in walking just a few blocks at a time before going on two day hikes on two consecutive days. On both days my feet hurt far less than I had anticipated and I had no blisters. Also, the boots feel much lighter than previous boots I have owned. Even by the end of the second day of hiking I did not feel like I was expending any additional effort to lug my shoes around. They just felt like a natural extension of my legs. The grip was also quite good. We did one hike near a waterfall and the rocky path up the mountain was at times a little slick from the spray. I slid around a little on the way down, but I was positively surprised by how well planted my feet felt. The water proofing also worked great. Even though the lip of the shoe is quite small and does not overlap with the shoe itself very much, when I put the boots in a stream my feet did not get wet. As a side note, I had just applied Timberland's wax and all of the water beaded nicely on the shoes. The shoes also breathed quite well. Of course by the end of the day my feet did not smell the best, but I know from experience they they could have been a lot worse. It appeared that the shoes did a good job removing the extra moisture and letting my feet breathe. There are only two things I did not like about these shoes. First, I found the arch support to be slightly lacking. Relative to other Timberland shoes I have owned (I have never owned their boots though) the arches seemed slightly flatter. If I was going to go for really long multi-day hikes I probably would look into getting very thin inserts to correct for this. The other thing I did not fully like is the build quality around the sole. Although the entire top half of the shoe seemed well made, it looks like the person who attached the soles onto them did a slightly sloppier job. Nothing has come remotely loose so far but they just look like they could have done with a little more care.

You Like Saying Gore-Tex, Don't You
OVERVIEW: I was looking for a lightweight pair of waterproof hiking boots that didn't look too much like hiking boots so I could also wear them on sloppy winter days in the city without looking too much like a dad. PROS: • GORE-TEX! -- When you're curb-stomping your enemies to a bloody pulp, nothing keeps your feet dry like Gore-Tex • Weight -- They're surprisingly light for a boot with such thick tread and solid leather • Traction -- The tread on these bad boys has been awesome in sloppy snow and slick streets; I haven't actually hiked in them yet • Warmth -- These boots have kept my feet pretty warm (even more so with wool socks) for being non-insulated • Quality -- They feel incredibly sturdy and well-made, though I've only worn them a dozen or so times MIDDLE GROUND: • Comfort/Insole -- I have flat feet. It sucks when buying shoes. These sometimes hurt the arch area of my foot. I'm not sure if that has to do with standard break-in time or not, but I may try swapping out for a different insole • Breathability -- I feet have sweat a bit in these boots (see Warmth as a PRO), but not an overbearing amount. I'm not sure I'd consider these for summer hikes, but I think they'd be perfect for the other 3 seasons. CONS: • None (so far) BOTTOM LINE: I bought these boots at $98. At their current $80 price, I couldn't recommend them more highly, if you're looking for a nondescript, high-quality hiking boot. Timberland is one of the OGs in boot bad-assery, and having Gore-Tex in such a lightweight boot only makes you feel like more of an invincible demi-god. Though it might not be good for the hottest of hikes, I'd say you'll struggle to find a better price for a better all-around, all-season performer. NOTE: Boot/shoe comfort is as subjective as analyzing a work of art, so I didn't think those things necessarily deserved to be in the CON category. This has been part of my 365 Review Revue: 1 review a day, with humor along the way.

Purchased these for my husband. He wears these daily and the pair he had needed replaced. Great quality and comfort.

Comfortable, Durable, and Built for the Trail
Comfortable, Durable, and Built for the Trail I’ve put a few pairs of hiking boots through their paces over the years, and these Timberland Chocorua Trail Mids really stand out. Right out of the box, they had that rugged, well-built look with quality leather and sturdy stitching. Once laced up, they fit comfortably without that overly stiff “break-in” period some boots demand. After a couple of hikes, they felt even better, molding nicely to my foot. The waterproofing has been reliable—I’ve gone through wet grass and shallow streams, and my feet stayed dry. Traction is solid on dirt and rocky paths, and the boots give good ankle support without feeling too heavy. They strike a nice balance between sturdy and lightweight, which makes them easy to wear for longer treks. A couple of things to keep in mind: the sizing runs true for me, but if you usually wear thicker socks on hikes, consider going up half a size. Also, while they’re waterproof, they aren’t insulated, so in colder weather you’ll want warm socks. Bottom line: These boots deliver exactly what you’d hope for—comfort, durability, and solid performance on the trail. A great choice if you need a dependable all-around hiking boot.

Best arch and ankle support I have found.
I work on my feet 8 hours a day. In 2010 I was suffering from Plantar Fasciitis, and wore Dr. Scholl’s arch support insoles with every shoe I owned, as recommended my foot doctor, and that worked well enough. One day, while shopping for hiking boots, I came across these ones, and noticed the great arch support they had, bought them, started wearing them to work, and never needed the Dr Scholl’s insoles again. They not only have great arch support, but also great ankle support. When they are new, I can stand in one place for a long time and my feet don’t hurt or tire. It actually feels like someone is holding my feet straight. The arch support holds well for over two years, the ankle support diminishes in a few months, but it is still noticeable over a year later. Overall, I need a new pair every two years or so. I do always own two pairs at a time, and I wear them all the time. My plantar fasciitis disappeared after wearing these boots. Still today, if I wear any other shoes, like my sneakers, and walk around for half an hour, my feet hurt, but with these boots, I can walk or stand all day, and feel no pain or tiredness. A couple of years ago I devoted a whole day to shopping for a different pair of boots that had equally good arch support. Went to different stores, tried on many pairs of different brands, including other Timberlands, but I could not find any model that was such a complete solution as these Chocorua are. Either the arch support was not as good, or they were not as comfortable, or they lacked the ankle support these have. In the end, I ended up buying two more pairs of these Chocorua. However, Timberland has discontinued these boots, as I learned when I contacted them directly. They are now only available through outlets like Amazon, or Zappos, I highly recommend them if you have my foot problems. I also went on many hikes with these boots and they performed excellently, even after wearing them for months at work. I read the comments about waterproofing, and Gore Tex vs. Timberdry (mine are Timberdry), and though waterproofing is not a factor for me, I can tell you that these boots are on my feet 90% of my time with shoes on, and I have worn them through snow and rain many times, and have never experienced any dampness, or water leaking.

Very comfy.
Arrived within 24 hours, well packaged and in top notch condition. I am a Size 11 in most and have owned 2 pairs of classic Timberland boots in the past. These fit perfect, straight away a snug comfortable fit, niether too loose or tight. I will break these in over the coming months and after my Inca Trek in the Andes I will (if I remember) give a full review. UPDATE: Since buying these I have Kayaked and trekked Norwegian Fjords without any discomfort or Blisters ( 17km kayaking and 23km Hiking up1200m through wild terrain) These were water tight until the 10th dunk in swampy boggy land and still no duscomfort or blisters. and Snowy peaks upto knee deep, kept feet warm and cozy (also credit to the trekking socks) I have also recently just completed the Inka Trail in these and not once did my feet hurt ( 44km in 4 days up 4250m on rough terrain and many Inca steps) No blisters or any discomfort. Breathed exceptionally well along with the trekking socks, kept dirt and rubble out (without gators) At the end of all that they are still in great condition and hardly any wear or tear. Upgraded too 5 star
