Lifetime Shatterproof Backboard Rim Combo, 48-Inch, Mounting Bracket Sold Separately

First off, this does come with a rim. 100% well made rim, no need to upgrade.. you can see a dunk in the video i uploaded. There's no "cheesey" feel to this, its a great backboard and rim. The assembly to put on a pole was very difficult because the instruction pictures were blurry and very small. You will have to go back and forth between the backboard instructions, and the backboard MOUNT instructions. Wasn't fun. I am great at following instructions, but this was VERY difficult. If you skip 1 small step, you'll be taking it all apart again to rebuild. Please note there will be a time you must BEND a piece that looks like it can't be bent to make it fit... it can. I will take 2 people to lift the backboard into place onto the brace which comes seperate. We stood on a picnic table and it was fine, it's not as heavy as you may expect. Aside from the instructions being hell on Earth, great product.. I'll assume most are smarter than me and keep it 5 stars.

Excellent replacement backboard and hoop. Replaced an original 44 inch backboard with this 48 inch wide backboard with almost no problems. The only issue that makes you curse though is trying to get the bar to connect with the very thin clip rings on either end. You need to pull the plastic cover over the rings in order to get them to connect.

This was a replacement for one that broke. We did not totally take apart the adjustable back brace which was a mistake ..we couldn’t get the U bracket to fit luckily we used old parts from the brackets to work. Also the plastic ends which holds part of the back rim were awful to get to work That needs to be redesigned!! That being said my grandchildren are really enjoying the board And outside of the blimps on assembly I find this a quality product !

After purchasing this backboard, along with a lifetime universal mount, I no longer I have a relationship with my father. The turmoil from trying to follow the impossible directions was more than we could handle. I first purchased the Lifetime 73729 48 in. Shatter Proof Backboard Rim Combo and bought the Lifetime 9594 Universal Mounting Kit to go with it. I was as told it was compatible. That was an exaggeration. I had to use a kitchen knife to cut several parts to make things fit. The directions to mount the backboard were so long, complicated, and impossible. I called customer service a few times for assistance. The ladies I spoke with were helpful, but some of the steps were just so insane there was nothing they could do. You’ll know what I mean when you get to step 3 on page 6. How on earth are you supposed to get that second push nut on? Impossible. I called to confirm that I was following the directions. The customer service representative’s response was, “It’s supposed to be hard.” Well, then they nailed it. I really lost it when I finally got the rim attached to the backboard and had to then screw the plastic boarder around the rim. There were no pre-drilled holes in the backboard, so there was no way to get the screws into the metal. It said to use an electric screwdriver, which I tried, but there was no way those screws were going into the backboard. There were so many steps, so many missing pieces, so much heartache. SO many swear words. I think it would be impossible for anyone who is not in the construction industry to put this thing together. Luckily, the handyman is on the way. So, expect to pay another $100 to have this thing installed for you.

Perfect replacement for my 15 year old Lifetime backboard. I didn’t even need to buy a new mount… this one was compatible.

Once the product is installed everything is great. Backboard is sturdy, and everything stays in place. Setup on the other hand is horrible. The instructions are crap, and the design of the part that attaches to the pole is somewhat clunky and inefficient. There is a piece that has to go a specific way and the instructions do not point out that one side has a bigger hole then the other. The picture of the piece has no indication of direction nor does the written part state anything about it. When you've been working on something overhead in the blaring sun and you have to take it apart...it gets old real fast.

item matched the description well. i was replacing a backboard that was 40 years old on a square pole. I new it was going to take a bit of effort to make it fit my existing pole and arms. i also had to replace some rusted pieces from my existing setup. I am not a great handyman, so it did take a bit of time to figure things out and then backtrack when i realized things were not lined up or needed to be modified. I am very pleased with the unit and its quality. I am average size and found the backboard a bit heavy and awkward for one person. Though i managed, i would highly recommend 2 people to install. Great product for the money.

I bought this along with the lifetime universal mounting kit , and found it somewhat confusing to put the backboard together until I read the instructions fully through from both the mounting kit and backboard assembly only to realize that both have similar parts for the same assembly.
