Marine biologist and jellyfish toxin expert Dr. Amit Lotan, PhD. has developed Safe Sea, the first product to combine sunblock with protection against the stings of jellyfish and other stinging aquatic creatures. By creating a surface barrier on the skin much like the one clownfish employ to avoid anemone stings, Safe Sea offers protection against the stings of such jellyfish as the Atlantic Box jellyfish and Rhopilema, Sea Nettle, Fire Coral and other stinging aquatic organisms. A second line of defense is provided by the formula's ability to greatly reduce stinging cells' ability to fire. Also offers protection from Seabathers Eruption, commonly blamed on "sea lice" but actually caused by the stings of hundreds to thousands of tiny, immature, nearly invisible jellyfish. Safe Sea lotion is available in 3 varieties, all of which are hypoallergenic, highly water resistant for up to 80 minutes in the water, and have no unpleasant odor. The original Safe Sea lotion formula is ideal for divers as it contains no sunscreen. Use alone, or mix this variety of Safe Sea lotion 1:1 with your favorite sunscreen for a custom level of UVA/UVB protection. The SPF formula is ideal for those who want protection from both jellyfish stings and harmful UVA/UVB rays, and contains vitamins E and B for the skin. Available in SPF 15, 40 and 50. SPF 50 Kids is a special formula of the same lotion for children and adults with sensitive skin. Finally, the new manual pump spray bottle is available in SPF 40. Worth it if you are a worrier!
I have no idea if it really worked or we were just lucky with no stings, but I'll take it! Good sun protection. A bit thick putting it on, but not a big deal. We vacationed in an area that is known for having times of year with a lot of sea lice and jellies. I'd rather pay a reasonable price for sunscreen that can help protect from the sun and sea life than worry about getting stung.

NOT REEF SAFE! Fraudulent claims to be "safe to marine life" while being TOXIC!
SUPER disappointed that this product pretends to be "harmless to sea life". It contains Octinoxate!!! THIS IS TOXIC TO THE REEFS! That harms ALL sea life. Everywhere in their branding they come off as being safe for sea life but this is absolutely not the case. They dont publish their ingredients easily and you have to dig on their website to find ingredients only to find that it has Octinoxate which is toxic to reef. I am so disappointed and angry that this company is deceiving people. This should constitute as fraud!

Good to Have for the Beach!
I bought these bottles before going on a cruise with my family. I was glad we could swim freely without worrying about getting stung! My kids are weary of the ocean, so this helped ease their fears a bit.

Meh...
It sort of helped with reduce sting. It definitely did not block it. If there had been any larger jelly fish in the area it would've have helped at all.
