They no longer make this in America. It is now made in China and it shows. It`s not my grandpas thermos that`s for sure. My handle came off while I was washing it for my first use.

They are very sturdy and well built. I would buy a smaller version first.

How wide is the opening? (Will ice cubes from an ice-cube tray fit?)

No, ice cube from a standard tray won’t fit. The throat of the bottle is about 1” diameter. You can buy trays at the dollar store that are smaller very cheaply.
