So happy I found this bread flour, a new pantry staple for me
For the most part I bake the breads we eat at home instead of buying store-bought and have more flours in my freezer than I care to admit. I'll get one flour for one type of bread, another for a different bread, one for pizza, etc. So one day I couldn't find my favorite brand of bread flour and was ready to spend too much on an alternative when I stumbled on Gold Medal bread flour when shopping on Amazon and decided to give it a try. I am SO happy I did because for my bread-baking purposes this flour does as nice of a job as my regular brand at a nice little savings too. I like to consistently buy the same brands of flours because I get used to how those flours perform for me, giving me more consistent baking results, which is why I was kind of sad when I couldn't find my regular brand of bread flour anywhere and decided to try this one. I honestly didn't even know that Gold Medal made a bread flour, never saw it in any of my stores, and wasn't sure what to expect before trying it since I've bought flours before that looked like something I would love but I didn't get the results with them that I wanted. With this one I got the results I wanted and am a happy camper, or I guess happy baker, knowing I can get this alternate bread flour quickly when I need it and at a good price too. In fact, I've been using this Gold Medal flour more regularly recently than my "regular" brand, so maybe I have two regulars now. For the types of breads I make for myself and my family, this definitely will become a staple. I don't know how it will do in a sourdough because I haven't made a sourdough with it yet, but for sandwich loaves, rolls, and things like that I think it's definitely worth giving a try. I'm glad I did.

I love this flour!
I love this flour. I had to order it online because I wasn’t able to find it in my local stop and shop lately. It feeds my sourdough starter very well!

Great for bread baking, but not the most premium flour option
This flour is a reliable choice for bread baking, especially if you’re using a bread machine or making things like pizza dough, rolls, or loaves. It’s formulated with higher protein content than all-purpose flour, which helps create stronger gluten structure for better rise and chew. It performs well for everyday baking—dough comes together easily, and the final texture is typically soft inside with a good crust, making it a solid option for home bakers. Compared to all-purpose flour (which is more versatile), bread flour like this is specifically better for yeast-based recipes that need structure and elasticity. On the downside, it’s more of a mid-range option. It doesn’t have the same consistency or higher protein levels as premium brands, so results can vary slightly depending on the recipe. It’s also not as versatile—you wouldn’t use this for cakes or delicate baked goods. Overall: A dependable, budget-friendly bread flour that works well for most home baking—great for beginners or everyday use, just not the top-tier choice for artisan baking.
