Hard drive itself is exactly as described, works perfectly and the set up instructions are clear and effective in getting you going. In common with other buyers, it has to be said that the case is complete crap and lets down such a premium product. My case effectively broke on the first use with the zip fraying some of the surround and then became caught. Given that this is a £250+ product the company should be ashamed of itself skimping on the quality of the case. I've had headphones which cost half of the price of this item which came with better cases. You may not think that the case is an important feature, but given that you're only buying this product because you have sensitive information you wish to protect it seems to be a major oversight on the products overall design not to include a useful case for it. The company should seriously consider redesigning / resourcing more rugged cases for these products and then doing their customers the service of supplying them with one. ********************************* Excellent customer support from iStorage. Hi there we are a small business with loads of electronic files so we purchased the 2TB version which I take home every night in case something happens in the office. It is vitally important that we have a secure and reliable backup. Set up was quite easy and was fast to take the data. I then plugged into another computer entered the pin number and saw all the files just like they normally appear. Job done!

I bought my first one in 2021. After 3 years with no problems and finding it very easy to use, I just bought another. As back up. I'm busy copying data over to it now (see pic). I haven't got the technical expertise to comment on how secure it is and whether its encryption is all it claims to be. I can only go on what I'm reading from the blurb on Amazon. On the other hand, since it needs a password to get into it, it's better than a drive that doesn't require one. And all my data seems to be intact to date.

Having a PC at work and a Mac at home I needed an encrypted device that would work on both. It was more complicated to set up than indicates as it has to be formatted to work on both systems and so I had to seek IT support. Once set up it works very well and e surges all of my data is secure.

Excellent. Easy to set up passwords and to use. Nice look and feel to the drive. Minor quibble is that the lead is very short. Now just need to see how long it will last.

what is to stop people from opening this casing up and removing the drive inside then they have access to your data, it is only a hardware encryption and not software!!

Despite already owning several dataShur USB sticks and 30 years of fiddling with PCs it was very hard to reset the Admin password. The instructions whilst clear are not EXACTLY what you need to do. When it says 'press Unlock + 1' it only worked if you pressed and held 1 first and then pressed Unlock, ditto all other key/number combinations. It took around 20 goes and constantly unplugging the drive till the new Admin code was accepted. The attached USB cable is much too short for anything but a laptop. And being USB 3.1 Gen 1 (i.e. USB 3.0 and NOT Gen 2) USB extension cable length is critical. 2m will power it but as soon as you try to write any data it falls over. 50cm seems OK. The included case was a nice addition but unfortunately the zip fell apart after three uses so something for the landfill.

Fenomenal y fácil de usar.

I bought this not minding the negative comments, but Straight out of the box, it keeps giving me an error message. Saying it needs fixing, I try to allow it to fix itself, but nothing happens. I can still use it without scanning, but I did the windows disconnect patch, and it still disconnects me every minute, so when watching a movie, it will disconnect and cut off what you are watching. I transferred all my files on this device, i hope i dont loss them in the future because of this error message and scan requirement

I bought this hard drive it was so much complicated to follow instruction and specially if you are a new user I have to contact helpdesk. Helpdesk are very good and helped how to setup my password and now it’s very easy to use it turns off automatically one you leave the device very secure and works with Mac and windows too. I like the idea entering the password in physical button it means strong security to this device wow I love this kind of technology.

Rien à voir avec une clé à logiciel de cryptage. dés que le disque est branché et le code saisi sur le clavier, il se comporte comme un disque dur classique, tous les fichiers (documents, photos, vidéos) sont visibles avec leur arborescence et leur décryptage est immédiat en temps réel à l'ouverture (pas d'attente comme avec un logiciel).
