Charming little tale
I only wish I’d discovered these books as a child. But at these prices I thought I’d indulge in a guilty pleasure. What a treat! Reading this book is like being dropped for a stroll through the English countryside. Not the REAL one, but the one that exists in the imagination of every Anglophile. You can almost smell the sunshine and hollyhocks. The little mice in the little mouse village run about the hedge and do little mouse things, which seem to be remarkably mundane, yet are rendered infinitely charming by Jill Barklem’s cozy prose. That’s just the word for this book: cozy. Cozier than a Grandma’s kitchen.I read mine on an iPad and the format was great, which is not the usual in illustrated e-books. In this it seemed that what I was reading generally matched what picture was showing, and the images themselves were clear and appropriately sized. (I have a 12.9 inch iPad Pro, if that helps.) Its a short book, written at an elementary school level, and should be easily understood by younger kids if read aloud. It’s decidedly British so there may be a fun introduction of some unfamiliar words to Americans. Absolutely nothing objectionable, no political or social agenda at all in this book and no moralizing. It’s subtle message seems to be to live gently, behave well, and have a little fun enjoying the simple things along the way when you can.

Love this book!
This series is so cute! I personally would recommend the hardcover as opposed to the paperback, just because I think it’s better quality as a hardcover, but a precious book nonetheless!

Lovely story with fabulous illustrations.
The bigger book format was great for reading with my grandsons.

Cute story, even cuter illustrations
It's a lovely story of the cute woodmice that live in the English countryside. But what really got me to purchase this book, and the other Brambly Hedge books and fine china pieces produced by Royal Doulton is the illustration. Every picture is so cute! The spring story is about the woodmice community planning a surprise birthday party for Wilfred, an energetic boy woodmouse. This book would make a good birthday gift for young child.

Spring Story (Brambly Hedge)
One book I would rate a five but the other book was slightly lighter in color than the other one (I would rate a 4). All in all, I was very pleased.

A sweet, sweet book
The illustrations in this book are as sweet as the birthday tail...errr....tale itself. Great gift for a young Spring-birthday kid.

Spring Sotry (Brambly Hedge)
I was missing this one book in the set I have and was so pleased to be able to complete the set. I love these little books not only for children but for myself as well.
